Re: Team Fortress Deux
Relatively new F2Pfag here, slowly becoming decent at the game. I am not at all a lone wolf, I'm all about dat team, so I like to play the more supportive roles, mainly Engie and Medic, even if it means I'll be getting more assists than kills. If the need comes up to be offensive I'm pretty good as Heavy, Pyro, Soldier, and Demoman, too. Starting to get used to Spy as well, I've racked up a few backstabs in my last ventures as the finely suited Frenchman. Pretty meh as a Sniper, I have to play on 640x480 res due to shite graphics card and it's pretty hard trying to pull off a headshot, so I'm not exactly an efficient marksman. I'm considering getting a controller instead of using mouse+keyboard though, which I find more comfortable and accurate, and also because I have this tendency of clicking outside of the TF2 window when spinning. Could also see if I could possibly run at a widescreen res and at fullscreen I suppose.
Steam ID is EdenBlade17, screen name is Ragdollmaster.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
I also love playing as a medic or engineer, but mainly medic if I'm going for support roles. If I'm going to do offensive stuff then I pick the Soldier, Heavy and sometimes Demoman. I'm really bad with the Sniper, Spy, and Scout. Well, not that bad, but still.
So, when are we playing a full DRLFF TF2 game?

Re: Team Fortress Deux
Haven't played in a while but when I did I guess my favourite class was medic, kind of. Each class's niche is pretty well defined so it really depends on the situation how powerful each class is. Medic is good in more situations and there's often a large deficit in medics whenever I play so I go in the back of a group of Demomen/Heavies and heal and jump around and spam my syringe gun at the oddly slow scout creeping up behind us.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
I can actually run it fine at 1920x1080 high quality off-line, so I phrased that wrongly- it's more to do with my connection. Probably wouldn't hurt if I had a better card, though.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
Yeah, considering TF2 is less graphics-intensive than most mainstream shooters out there. However lower graphical settings WILL substantially help with lag.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
K I was fiddling with settings and I found that I can run it at 1368x768 fullscreen with medium qualities on everything and still have really great FPS online. Better than 640x480 on all low, actually. What the hell, TF2? Anyways, I could probably go higher, but I'd rather stick with more consistent performance.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
I feel like such a loser. Everyone says start out with a soldier or a demoman, soldier and demoman will bring you up to speed, easy cake! Not sure if I have a single kill with either class yet. Doing absolutely great as a pyro or a medic, though (as far opposite as those are). Even when the team fails to recognize that when I say "I have a kritzkrieg, not a medigun", it means I have a kritzkrieg, not a medigun. I unlocked the homewrecker, but I never really find myself embedded into an enemy fort with the time to smash apart structures with it, and the secondary fire on the flamethrower nulls the need for clearing sappers.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
I didn't start with Soldier or Demoman. I started getting better at Soldier later, and I'm honestly still kind of a terrible Demoman.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
Soldier and Pyro are my go-to classes. I play a decent scout, medic, engie, and middling demoman. Sniper I will only pick if I'm ♥♥♥♥ around or if there's a very specific reason to: a sentry that could easily be shot but my team's too distracted/stupid.
I never play Heavy (I'm terrible at it, not sure why) and ♥♥♥♥ Spy. It's occasionally fun to mess around with, but not my style of play at all.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
I'm pretty much good with every class except engy. I'm also not too good with scout and I'm more or less a slightly better version of a pub pyro. My first class was sniper, of all things. Surprisingly, I WAS actually good at sniping but it's been so long since I've played sniper well that I think I've lost my talent. Oh well, though, huntsman sniper is still fun and when I do happen to play sniper the SMG tends to get me a few kills.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
I'm not amazing with any class but I enjoy messing around on pretty much all of them If I had a main it would be demoman as that's my most played but I'd say most of that time was playing as a demoknight
Because using only a sword in a gunfight is clearly the manliest option

Re: Team Fortress Deux
I still suck at pretty much every class, probably because I only play 2fort with instant respawn. Oh well.

Re: Team Fortress Deux
Btw.
Pyros: your secondary fire on flamethrower pushes enemies and projectiles away, it also extinguish team mates, yes it can airblast rockets back at the Soldier, and do more damage even.
Medics: When you got 100% Ubercharge, right click for 10 seconds of invincibility, also, be aware of Spies, and jump around a lot to avoid snipers and projectiles and whatnot. Kritzkrieg: The same, just with 10 seconds of 100% crits.
Spies: If your team already have a lot of Spies, simply don't go spy, unless you are actually good.
Demomen: Your grenade launcher projectiles tilts slightly to the right, and is not hitscan obviously, try to predict your enemies movement instead of spamming randomly, you can sticky jump if you put a sticky on the ground, then crouch jump over it and right click.
Soldier: Same as the grenade launcher, rockets tilt to the right, however as a soldier, it is better aiming for an enemies feet, instead of body, you can rocket jump if you crouch jump, then shoot a rocket underneath you.
Engineer: Be paranoid, shoot everyone you see, because they are of course a Spy, if someone bumps into your buildings, and does not go through them, SPY. If someone acts suspicious, and hides in corners or at distance, SPY. If you see 2 of the same team mate, one of them is a spy.
Because so many new players do not notice any of this.
