Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
They also come in standard ork squads. Maart3n that table quite resembles mine, but I only happen to have space marines galore, ork, ork coptas and my sad unassembled raider. Those russe's look absolutely adorable. And deadly.
Speaking of orks I'm painting a few myself. The skin and weapons are quite manageable and rather fun, but the leather is simply kicking my ass.

ORKS IS BESTEST I've got a couple, don't use them anymore though. I'll upload some pics of my horribly painted Deffdread or whatever. EDIT: Awsum gluing skills. Four good Orks lost their chainsaws that day. This is the one model I'm slightly proud of.

I only got into 40K for a few months. I got the starter kit, then picked up two Space Marine tanks (The MBTs, can't remember their name)for $6.00 each at a garage sale, cannibalized one with Orky bitz. Probably my best find. Not that I've been looking.

Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
Damn, those models are pretty awesome. But I'll never get some because:
A)My painting skills are awful. B)They don't sell anything related to warhammer on my country.
Pretty sad, because it looks very interesting.

I'm going to be painting my daemon prince soon-ish. Would anybody appreciate tutorials on anything? Teeth and leather will be available.

Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
Here's a question, I'm sure I have some modeling glue handy, but I've also heard of this modeling cement stuff, I have none of that. I'm considering getting some figures and I want to know what I'd be better off using.

Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
This may sound like some sort of bad advertising but the Citadel glue really works like a charm on GW models. We've tested it in our local store and it's both faster and harder. Second best would be the standard plastic glue that revell makes.

Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
Eh, I tend to roll with plain superglue. Also, God yes, tutorials on leather and teeth and whatever else.
-edit-
Well, I just won the necron squad for about 10 quid. Still half of what GW asks for them. I also got quite a fright. Due to a missing "." I nearly bid 951£, but instead it just ended up the my "maximum bid". Now that would have been some hella expensive necrons.

Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
Eh I must protest that superglue isn't really the best for plastic models, compared with plastic glue
I always use Citadel glue when I can afford it because it is probably the most expensive glues, yet comes in the smallest amount

Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
I get all my plastic glue from plain old hobby shops, 10x the amount of glue for a tenth of the price

Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
So hey there folks, I'm back from my smuggling trip. With two battleforces, some termies and the odd pack of grots. Oh, and washes! First of all, I've gotta say, Ork models are a joy to paint. So much detail, and yet so easy to get a good coat on! I've just done my first boy, and I think it's probably my best painted model ever. No pics though, I can't find my camera's USB cable. Second, regarding leather, I've found that a with a basecoat of any medium brown, and several uneven layers of Devlan Mud, one can get a reasonable look without inordinate amounts of effort. Finally, I'm also thinking of getting some necrons. Not to start an army, but rather to make servitors out of these lil'guys:

Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
Those guys look absolutely delicious. As an army necrons aren't really that great, but the miniatures manage to be quite chunky without having skulls, seals and aprons everywhere.
As an unrelated note I just bought an assault marine squad for 20 bucks. Hell yeah, 2nd hand minis.

Woah, I'm used to only seeing the Necrons all skinny and skeletal, I like this chunky look.

Re: Thinkin' about buying some Warhammer 40k models
Yeah, there's even a step-by-step tutorial on making them, just search for Mini-crons.
And uh, Foil, isn't a brand new tac squad 25 bucks or so, anyways?
Also, guys, I have a doubt. How long, on average, do you spend painting a miniature? 'Cause, at the pace I'm in, looks like the current batch won't be finished at least until next year.
