Well, why isn't the SMP server letting me log in? Something on my end?

The "logging in" phase is to minecraft.net, and since that's down you can't login. Thus the server boots you because it can't be sure you are who you say you are.

But I can log into my account to play Singleplayer; usually if there's a problem with minecraft.net, I'll have to play offline. The problem comes right when I try to log into the server itself. Other servers work for me.

Hm. This may be a problem with the mix of software I have. I'm trying to get rid of SimpleServer actually, I just have to find a whitelist plugin.

I wish we could mod the max map depth and height.

We would have such awesome mountains......

Duh, CAN we somehow mod the map height?

Not exactly modding the total height, but would it be possible to lower the sea level? This would give us more space above ground for making huge, tall structures, but less space for mining and digging underground. I think sea level is somewhere roughly between the maximum height and maximum depth by default.

Note: I doubt there's a straightforward way of accomplishing this, but you may be able to do something hacky. Also, it wouldn't hurt to ask about this on the official Minecraft forums.

Mod the map height: No, no, definitely not. It would require an almost fundamental rewrite of the client and server.
Lower sea level: You can do this locally by asking one of the worldedit people to do a drain and then a fill at a lower level. There is a mod that can modify the world gen parameters but it is for an older version of the server and has not been updated. Using it would require everyone to downgrade their client and me to find an old version of the server (which would be near impossible).

We need a server roll back stat, I was helping alpha gamer and then did something dumb and probly ruined his house on a big wtf moment...

i've been banned 4 times and then unbanned wtf so much corruption T_T
