Re: Dead Island
Also, they pretty much have to die, if the trailer is to be considered accurate.

Re: Dead Island
Isn't stated anywhere that the people in the trailer are the people you play.

Re: Dead Island
And if I got it right, the dad doesn't actually die in the trailer.

Re: Dead Island
I personally don't think the family are an integral part of the plot, but Wikipedia says you can play as either a Bell Boy, a rapper, a surfer and someone called Purna. All of whom are conveniently immune to the infection. But of course, these are most certainly subject to possible change.

Re: Dead Island
How so? I didn't see any problems with scope, it's just that I find it laughable that they say they want to stay away from crazy weapons, then provide an electrified kukri as an example of a 'normal' or 'realistic' weapon.

Re: Dead Island
You mean you wouldn't make an electrified kukiri if you had the know how and the right materials?

Re: Dead Island
Hell no. If the battery is strong enough to deliver a lethal charge for a long period of time to your blade, use it for lighting or cooking. Complete waste of battery.

Re: Dead Island
I have a feeling you don't know what I mean by "scope". I meant that it wasn't as ambitious or risk taking as the trailer would suggest. The trailer suggested emotion and a strong narrative, but from that article we see that the game focuses on beating up zombies and leveling up. It'll be great fun and I'll probably buy it, but it won't be anything super duper groudbreaking.

Re: Dead Island
Yeah, I guess I see what you mean. It's a shame that whenever it comes to zombies, it's always got a general lack of a story.

Re: Dead Island
I'm saving up money for this game it's gonna be the shiz very soon it's kind of groundbreaking with the multilayered zombies for realistic wounds and limb loss and I hope the story is worked on so it sucks you right into the game. Zombies have realistic skin, muscle, and bones so the it will look so realistic it could make weak stomached people puke

Re: Dead Island
They got rid of that modeling because it took up too many resources and in playtesting, nobody even noticed it. Instead they've opted for a more simple, less-gratifying dismemberment/bone-breaking system.
