 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
So it appears that EVERY time I go away from my computer to do something, MCAdmin immediately takes notice and decides to close itself and leave the Java process hanging, taking up half a gig in my RAM.
Meh.

Duh102 wrote: For one thing, it would take probably half an hour for you to put it together. I would recommend using Zicore's Admin Tool, because MCAdmin and hey0 do not play nice together at all. ZMA is only a wrapper, though it does provide tunneling capabilities. If you want to proceed further, copy the following smallified steps into a text editor. 1. Download ZMA (http://www.zicore.de/wiki/index.php/Download) and hMod (http://hey0.net/get.php?dl=serverbeta) 2. Extract the entirety of ZMA into a folder (preferably a new folder than the server so you don't have to worry about contamination.) Don't even move the world folder yet, later you can move it in. 3. Extract the contents of the "bin" folder in the hmod .zip into the same folder. 4. Open the ZMA exe. It should ask for an update or something, let it do it. When it's done, open up the application again if it closed and head to "Settings". In there where it has a line for "minecraft_server.jar", replace it with "Minecraft_Mod.jar". 5. Edit the other settings to suit your configuration, then press ok. 6. Edit server.properties, changing server-ip= to server-ip=127.0.0.1 and server-port= to server-port=8890 7. Add in any plugins to the same file under plugins=, making it look like: "plugins=(name of plugin.jar minus the .jar),(the same)". If you used both of my plugins, it would read plugins=EightBallPlugin,QuotePlugin. 8. To install plugins, extract the .jar to the Plugins directory and any .properties or .txt files to the root directory. For my plugins, the only thing you'd need to change would be 8ball.txt, to change the responses if you like. quotes.txt will fill itself. I'll provide more detailed help on each plugin you'd like. My plugins: http://www.mediafire.com/?vvr1ip9fkb449n7 http://www.mediafire.com/?ozf36eks8p4yjmt
I don't know if it'll work, but here's a server setup I put together and zipped. http://www.mediafire.com/?g496l62pz6kvtx1 If it does work, great, you can set up groups and whatnot as you like. Remember that you have two sets of configurations to deal with, ZMA's and hMod's. hMod's are only accessible through the .txt and .properties files, but if you add plugins that's the only way you can change permissions. ZMA's would probably be your best bet for the day-to-day changes, so I put all of hey0's configuration to the minimum functional ones.
To add yourself to the admin list of hMod, open users.txt and add a new line: Whitty:admins:2 You can do that for any of the groups I set up: default, vip, mods, admins, frozenZMA is totally right here.... though tbh hey0 functions fine on it's own, as long as you're cool with not having a GUI.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
I'd really prefer to have a GUI as much as possible. I like how MCAdmin is set up and I think it works absolutely amazing (when it works right).

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
Why don't we just limit !give to admins and whitty? That way, it's available if we need it (ie greifers and such) but regulars couldn't use it. being a builder would mean you got !tp and tnt such, and perhaps advbuilders get !summon and !kick and fire, op's would get !rank and !ban and !banip and any dangerous other materials, and admins would get everything including adminium access?
I dunno, That's how mine is set up. I just think that !give will become much more crucial once damage is in, becoming as important as !ban and such.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
That sounds like a horrible idea. How about, if you don't want to use !give, then don't use it, and go play survival with all the other by-the-bookers. If you just want to build ♥♥♥♥, like me, then use !give all you want.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
Or we could give you a higher rank...
Oh well, seems like whitty isn't going to change it anyways. PVP will still be awesome though.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
That would just be an unnecessary fix for a silly problem. But yeah, change is not the name of the game.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
I just think it'd be cool if whitty made different ranks for pvp/no!give people, like regular in the place of builder, then made advbuilders just called builders and give them !give and everythign else. Obvously not going to happen, It would just be intersting if pvp/non pvp had different name colors.
EDIT: On that note, does anyone know if the pvp tag is serverwide or player specific? Will MCAdmin be updated to allow that tag to be applied to specific ranks? IE admins are pvp proof or something?

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
What PVP tag? Everyone is gonna have health again, like it or not.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
I made a new rank (called "pvp"), it's rank level is 0. That means no !give, etc.

Obviously, Notch just mentioned that servers can have or not have the Pvp tag, so one would assume that means player damage doesn't affect other players specifically. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was serverside or player specific, so you could turn it off or on via mcadmin or something.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
alphagamer774 wrote: Obviously, Notch just mentioned that servers can have or not have the Pvp tag I vaguely remember something like this being said months ago. Not anytime recent. If it were a server variable, which it sounds like it is, then it would probably be serverwide, and also something McAdmin would struggle to deal with. Hey0 on the other hand...
