Bah, how could I have forgotten this? For the entire school year, every other day, I've spent about 90 minutes (per class) playing LAN matches with my computer class. Fun. Even when our network was down, the single player mode was still fun.
Didn't even have to pay for it, I'm pretty sure there are official free downloads hanging around the webs.
EDIT: Note to the moderators on that last bit- I don't mean cracks, keygens, pirating/torrents, etc, I mean legal downloads, so don't smack me in the faic for mentioning this.

Actually, Custom edition Is free if you have the CD key. And as of the most recent patch (Yes, they are still patching this game) you no longer need the CD to run the full version. I had some epic LAN matches as well, but it was mostly some HL Opposing Forces and Homeworld 2.

Uh. Could you point me in the direction of this patch? Does this also mean that you don't need a CD key for custom edition?

Uh, I'd say SSB64, but I still play that so it doesn't really count... Yummy 0 to death combos with Puff!

SM64 is awesome even today, but I play that too. Also, has anyone else checked out the [h3]sandtrap map for Halo CE? It's a full-blown Halo 3 conversion into custom edition. Models, textures, hud, animations, everything. Best mod i've seen, even better than HyruleField.

Re: Old games.....
I'd recommend Radiata Stories if you want an RPG to play. Funny, good (stylistic) graphics, decent (if not great) music, and interesting story.
