Galactic Civilisations (2)
Has anyone played this? I've been playing the GalCiv2: Ultimate Edition. I find it amazing. It's a Space RTS, or 4X game, where the aim is to achieve victory by combat, by influence, by alliance or by technology. You research technologies, form trade routes, build colonies, as well as laying waste to your opponents with ships and troop transports. Or, if you are so inclined, blowing up their star with a Terror Star. A potential name for a star is Alderan. Make your own connections.

Sounds like Space Empires, I'll take a look. I take that back, it looks exactly like SE, only better.

Ive got Endless Universe edition. Its alright, but lacks enough depth for me to really enjoy it. Its better then Space Empires 5, simply due to its better UI aswell as overall mechanics.
It lacks that certain something... Maybe its a lack of a epic construction like a dyson sphere or something...

Re: Galactic Civilisations (2)
Ah, not found that yet. I'm still playing my first game (Biggest universe, everything random). The T-bug faced people were my closes neighbour, and were trying to extort me... I tried a cultural conquering, but my influence zone didn't go over their planets. So I sent transports in.
Normal transports got taken down by pirates, so I made new ones, with lots of guns and shields. They move slowly, but kill any pirates. I got into their zone, and took a few planets... then found out what a Precursor Ranger was. A big ship, lots of guns... killed all I had that came across it without taking a scratch.
The Yor Collective were my allies at that point, and I saw they found a few Precursor Corvettes, and a Ranger themselves... so I bought them.
I ripped down their Ranger, and took most of their planets... They surrendered. To the most powerful force, who everyone else was already complaining about. Looks like I'll have to go to war with them now.

Playing the demo, and this is an awesome game so far, the ship customization is awesome.

I've got it but my computer is quite terrible, so I can't play it at any decent speed.

Oobagoo wrote: It's 'Civilizations'- With a 'z'. I refuse to contribute to your bastardi sation of the English language. It may be wrong, but now it is righter in it's wrongness. And Kicktar, it is good. Favourite ship: Tiny hull, Adv Troop Module, Impulse Drive 3. Just fits together, and I can send out like... 5 of them per turn. Capture undefended planets, the defended ones will fall to my massive culture, from taking all the planets around them. Taking me two to capture Terran planets, but only one for Korath (sp) planets. However, they Spore Ship me back. Bastards. When I take a planet (which I'm doing often): Quantum Power Plant (Does +30% manufacturing), Weather Control Zenith (+3 or more planet quality), My Evil Church of Valor (+ Soldiering bonus), Advanced Navigation Module (Faster ships), spam Industrial Sectors (Manufactoring). Some of my planets are churning out my tiny troop transports at a rate of one per turn.
