Post Need help with a map
Mkay, so I was bored today, and wanted to see if I could make a map. Not a map with bases and ♥♥♥♥, but just a map. Wanna tell me what's wrong with it? I saved it as a .bmp, but when I try to use the scene, it gives me a nice red background with the words "default". Anyone wanna help me here?

Didn't work, I opened grasslands in MSpaint, and Scene 1 in paint.net, copied Scene 1, and pasted it over grasslands. That was what I was supposed to do, right?

yes, that is correct.
Next problem could be custom materials, if you are using any. Otherwise, I'd just give it another try.
I like to use graphics gale instead of mspaint cus it shows what palette you are using. Maybe you should get that and then try it out.

I don't think I'm using any custom materials. And how do I know what palette to use?

i'll do it, and btw you can find out the palette if you use graphics gale. It has a weird half filled palette for scenes, so if you see one that is mostly black, that is the one to use. This shouldn't take too long, brb.

ok, two problems, its not paletted properly (pictures show the difference in palette) and you have blue sky, and I don't know if that would cause the red terrain, but it wouldn't help you in the long run either, I suppose.

Yea, I don't know where the blue sky came from, I had it pink. And how do you get the right palette?
Edit: Also, your Scene 1.rte also has the red terrain :???:

huh, don't know why...

and the palette is not the one in base.rte, that one is for sprites, what you want is the material palette which is embedded in all scenes and mat files. I really don't know why it didn't work, it was in palette i think...

i tried it, and it crashed my game. So I don't even no.
I think you should just open one working map, edit it in photoshop or gimp or graphics gale, pretty much anything except paint.net, and then make that your scene. you can try to fix the palette problems later, but if you do it in photoshop, for example, you wont even have too.

Huh, I thought I fixed it, I was wrong though. I had gone through and edited out all of the discolored pixels. Didn't work... :x

a blue sky will fill with the "default" material, so thats an issue.
fill it with pink (255,0,255), the Air material.
if i could, id give it a look, but i dont have winrar or 7z or anything simmilar on this computer and i dont have install privileges, so i cant help you.
