I have an idea for scene, but I'm not that good at modding (learning though).
I was thinking of having it set on rooftops of tall buildings, with the bunkers or structures inside them.

Windows could be used for as a place to shoot out of.
Here is a very rough idea of what it could look like.
Image
Having it like that without any ground at the bottom would give it a feeling of being up high but it might be difficult for dropships and things like the crobos' drop pod.

But It could just be a tall scene with some ground which you can walk through the buildings with, like this.
Image
Also, I was thinking of giving it a very dark, moody atmosphere with rain falling like in icelands.
I think Waterwars water would be better than Lord Tim water for rain.
Because rain isn't really glowy.

I don't think It'll be a good idea to have it stay on the terrain, perhaps, it called fall and disappear after 3 or more seconds.
And whatever emits it could have a looped sound of rainfall and possibly some thunder.
Seeing as though this is set in a big dark city I was thinking of having background images like this:
Image
(But not destroyed)
As for a middle layer, it could have other similar buildings but darker, like in this picture. ( but not that badly made.)

Clouds would have to be really big and dark grey, it would be a nice effect if the clouds could be above the rainfall making it look like the rain is coming from it.

So things I need help on are:
-Rain.
-Background layers.
- And basically ideas on how this thing should look really.
Excuse any grammar mistakes and give me your feedback. :)

We've tried the whole city-thing before, and somewhere between needing waaaaaay too many custom graphics and it just doesn't work out, we gave up.

Why not just create a ground texture for the buildings like windows? If you're fine with chucks blow out of the buildings not gibbing that should be a low-labor way to get the scene presentable. And you could always bug Numgun for his city background.

This could be exactly like the Apoc tower, minus the floor, and plus more buildings.

no because that scene is very vertically set whereas this would still be horizontal, at least when you are playing on the rooftops. Textures would be difficult, but with some perseverance and maybe some community help we could get a good city map.

edit:
could also do the sidewalk of a city like I think that one guy with the dummy family avatar is doing.

As for materials: Wouldn't it be better to have the buildings as modules?
I originally had that in mind, otherwise it would look ♥♥♥♥.

Alternately, (and I know this is breaking the spirit of the scene), you could just focus on one building. Now, you could do it a couple different ways, like have no floor (like the building is a skyscraper), have the defender in the bottom, and the attacker come in from the top. Or, have there be a floor, and have the defender in the top. (like the enemies are assaulting the 3rd floor of a building from the ground). Either way would be more interesting building/cramped combat.
