Hello again, made a small glider for my trapper mod. It is fully force based and uses realistic aerodynamics and all that good stuff ^^ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r2RRZ2OBzE Please note that the air resistance the glider provides is decreased since the video. I would love if someone could make a proper sprite for the glider, which would 2-3 times larger than the WIP sprite. The glider should be separated from the body unlike the WIP sprite as I will make it an attachable instead. Also it needs 10 frames, first frame being the glider packed together in a backpack and last frame should be the glider fully expanded. To use it double tab crouch , it expands/retracts the glider. To turn the glider in the air use your walk buttons. You can increase the turning speed by holding crouch at the same time. Tip, use jet pack to gain momentum, watch out for flying at too high speeds as the high air resistance might through you out of control if you try to turn and try not to stall Personally I think this mod is entirely useless in CC due to everyone having jet packs and it is hard as hell aiming when gliding, but I think it is a fun alternative to just jetpacking Questions: Would you think it is a good idea to replace the jet pack with a jump? This will make it more of a cool trade off, but unfortunately removing the ability to stay in the air forever, because of the lack of boost. Do you think I should increase/decrease the air resistance the glider provides. The less air resistance, the easier it is to control at high speeds, the more, the easier it is to make small clutch turns at lower speeds.

I had a go at it, ~13 frames. I tried to give it a Ronin-y look. I apologize if it's not in palette. Attachment: |

No problems, and thanks. If you want any adjustments or such, feel free to throw them out there. akblabla wrote: Love your work btw |

Here is a vid of the glider with your sprites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLpjxjROxbQ Did some more physics stuff as well (the glider is forced to retract if there is ground in the way and some more stuff). Added an additional frame where the glider is a tad wider when receiving high amounts of air resistance from the sides, I also made it thinner when going at high speeds, thought it was a neat idea ^^ It is sad that it isn't possible to change the volume and/or pitch of a sound while the sound is running, or else I would make it have a sound based upon the current air resistance. Would have been so awesome if it would say "woosh" when making a sharp turn edit: Kettenkrad wrote: No problems, and thanks. If you want any adjustments or such, feel free to throw them out there. Maybe make it 1.25 - 1.5 times bigger, as it seems rather small for a glider Here is a version with the palleted sprites. You'll notice the extra frame in the end, it is just a slightly bigger version of frame 11. PS: I hope you don't mind that I upload this for the mod contest.

If I could make a suggestion, how would a pieced-together scrappy Ronin turbine engine strapped to his back as a jetpack work out? EDIT: Oh man, I just had so much fun with an aerial skirmish between a glider and the coalition assault troops from alt skirmish. EDIT 2: Artillery spotter go! |

It have a lot of potential, god luck with it akblabla! this game miss a lot that madmax style that gliders or gyrocopters could provide... Also kettengrad, your sprites are simply win... [/envy] |

If you/someone could provide the sprite then of course. Just keep it small about 8*15 pixels, as the main focus should be the glider. If it is too big it would feel too much like a plane/rocket instead of a glider. You could actually hit something in the air while flying?! Also that pic is so epic ^^ Edit: Here is another one Notice the view being in front of the glider. Just a little thing I added Gotcha! wrote: I see a new game mode: Glider Racing Track. Oh god, mario kart in cortex command. That would be so awesome. That will properly be my next project in cortex command ^^ |
