This is just an idea I had

Could a digger be made that counts the number of overall terrain particles it absorbs, then gives you a certain number of blocks you can then place in the field based on this, so you could mine a large area of dirt, and build a good square bunker out of it

so
1. mine a quarry, digging a tunnel to get the necessary particle count, say 1000 particles for 10 blocks
2. get the particles and go into a build mode through the pie menu
3. use the build option to place a square !Within a certain distance of the actor using the digger! So you cant build across the map
4. hide and have fun in your new bunker!

Is this a minecraft mod? Sounds fun
Theres a automatic bunker placer some where if you search for it.
Combine that with the duel weapon template and you have a gun that can dig and place blocks. I know its not quite what you asked for but its a start.
