Placing the brain anywhere in Skirmish mode
Is there any way the game can be modded so that I can actually build a full on bunker without giving the enemy AI a straight open air path to the brain? It's not exactly fun to build a base when I have to have a straight line with no doors to the brain. I want to build kill boxes, et cetera and that is kind of hard when they can just waltz or fly through.

there is most likely a way to do this but you have to learn how to Lua script. This new code was not in B24 so there must be some way to get rid of this code.

Well, I've been looking and I have absolutely no idea where to begin. Hopefully a dev or somebody will poke his nose in and point me in the right direction.

Re: Placing the brain anywhere in Skirmish mode
I can't find anything in SkirmishDefense.lua, so I fear it's hardcoded in the .exe. Anyone? I agree though, it has to go. Or at least needs to be optional. Besides breaking a lot of my existing maps it also leads to a lot less possibilities when making new ones. And people should be allowed to hide their brain deep in the ground to have a good ol' slaughter fest without worrying about their brain being toasted.

Or you could always mod the brain to be indestructible.

That'd solve only the slaughter fest problem though.

Re: Placing the brain anywhere in Skirmish mode
actually growing on what above says you could have a brain that moves like a brain bot, prepare a special chamber and link the two with a destructible teleporter.
move the brainbot to the tele then destroy the tele and you're golden.

Re: Placing the brain anywhere in Skirmish mode
I personally prefer Roast Veg's idea, as this tends to take the least effort and be fairly practical. The game doesn't care about how well protected the brain is as long as there is SOME gap, not quite sure what the size minimum is, though. I do know it's smaller than the tiny concrete block, which is a start.

Re: Placing the brain anywhere in Skirmish mode
this is my setup ever since b26 came out. that would be the largest base the unitech pack has to offer, three unitech miniturrets and a door. also what you can do is drop a few mine bombs in the tombs during build mode for extra security.

Re: Placing the brain anywhere in Skirmish mode
I just had a thought. If you made a brainbot (not necessarily) that ran a script on a pie menu option that teleported it to the lowest open space below it, you could quickly hide your brain at the start of battle.

Re: Placing the brain anywhere in Skirmish mode
Place brain at top of map. Place concrete block on brain. Brain goes out of view and bullet range.
Come on people. I've been doing this since B23.
Or if you're too lazy to be neat. Just get a brain bunker and place it high.

Re: Placing the brain anywhere in Skirmish mode
the problem with that is the enemy won't go inside your base they'll just cluster below the brain.
that's one of the best parts about CC, in base combat, placing your brain deep within a lair and defending it.
