Post A few AT-43 mods anyone?
Ok, I've been thinking of this one for a while actually, got it while I was playing CC with the Bear Federation mod, as their heavy battlesuit actor looks a bit too much like one of these:
Image

Now many of you are probably wondering "What the heck is AT-43?!" Well, first of all you could check their site:
http://www.at-43.com/

Or you could just read my shorter summary of the whole thing and the factions in it.

AT-43 is a tabletopgame much like Warhammer and is set in a dark future (as always) were 4 factions fight eachother (5 actually, they are going to add a fifth alien faction soon). The factions are:

The U.N.A.
Quoting the website:
Quote:
The United Nations of Ava lead humanity on the road to progress, success and prosperity.

The U.N.A. have merged to become a powerful political entity in the fratricidal struggle against the Red Blok dictatorship.

Their unity has been forged under the fire of the morphos invasion and has been soaked in the freezing depths of space, where the invader assembles its deadly machines.

Your usual UN-like mankind, uses a combination of mechs, battlesuits and infantry.
Image
A Star trooper, the U.N.A.'s support infantry.

Red Blok
Once again, quoting the website:
Quote:
Faced with the reactionary forces of interstellar decadence, there is only one alternative to put mankind back on the tracks of bliss: the Red Blok.

The Red Blok’s revolution is the first step towards justice, equity and unity.

The great revolutionary march began more than a hundred years ago, and nothing has ever been able to stop it, neither the insane stubbornness of the U.N.A., nor the inhumane violence of the morphos.

A heavily soviet-inspired faction, my favorites in fact, the battlesuit at the top of the post is one of theirs, a "Spetsnaz kolossus". They use the same unit types as the U.N.A.
Image
A Dragonov kommando, the Red Blok's long range specialists (coolest unit of them all imo).

The Therians
Quoting the website again:
Quote:
The therians are the all mighty craftsmen of a better univerese, a universe organized and bent to their will. They have dedicated themselves to an extraordinary mission: each star, each planet must be transformed, remodeled.

The therians abilities are infinite and their technology is all-powerful.
All the resources in the universe could only oppose a very temporary resistance.

The "morphos" reffered to in the other factions quotes, they are the game's bad guys. They look a bit like the necrons of W40K, but with a few differences. A fun fact is that they come from a very familiar solar system, namley Sol. As the game is supposed to be very far into the future, we have apprently been able to make ourselves invincible by becoming machines, and now we are running around in the galaxy killing everybody who resists us. Anyways, we use some really sinister looking units, whom are a bit difficult to describe.
Image
A Grim golem, the Therians standard infantry.

The Karmans
Quoting the website once more:
Quote:
The Karmans, wise warriors on a quest for freedom and peace, have decided to march into battle as war spreads through the universe. They have analyzed the path taken by the cosmos and have seen its future… In AT-43, Operation Damocles has rushed the universe on a course of war and chaos. The Karmans are fulfilling their fate by choosing to join in: They are the chosen few destined to guide the other races towards victory and wisdom!

Probably the strangest faction of them all, as it consists of sentinent gorillas (the result of one of the Therians's experiments). They utilize heavy infantry (obviously) and "trikes", a kind of hovering vechile. So far, the faction does not have many units available, but more will be added.
Image
An Anakonga, the Karmans standard infantry.

As I said earlier in this post, there is a fifth faction that's going to be added, the Cogs. I can't find much info about them, but they look quite much like the Tau of 40K physically (although they are a bit more skinny), but have a very different style overall. Here's how their army box is supposed to look like:
Image

I think it would be very cool if someone made a mod of this (I'm not confident enough with my skills as a modder since I've just started screwing around with the vanilla code). I hope this has inspired someone

Looks like tabletop WH40K with different models. UNA trooper = Guardsman. Red Blok trooper = Vindicare Assassin. Therian soldier = Dark Eldar. Karmans = Orks [/rip-off rant]. But said models look really cool.

Check the website for more models, I just took a few at random from a few different products (ok, the dragonov kommando was not taken at random, but they are so cool!)
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the karmans are very far from the orks, as they are very wise and humble by nature, dunno why they'd fight though :P

First of all: Nice! I like it.

Secondly: I am a budding mod maker and I wanted to make a few weapons from this AT-43 to show you my mod-making skills. However, I had absolutely no experience of AT-43 before I first clicked the link onto this thread. So, I went to the website and had a look around and found this: http://www.rackham.fr/images/stories/AT ... _at-43.jpg
It would be nice if I knew what it meant.

Thanks.

I think you're going to have a rather tough time finding proper reference pix for sprites. but seeing as how I'd like to see them done, let me know if I can help.

I am pretty shite at spriting, so some sprites would be great. :)

Thanks.

GREAT! Someone willing to make this happen!
As for the stats and stuff, I can't help you really, I've been thinking of buying these for quite a while, but since theres been so many games coming out now, I'm kinda short of money. I just happened to find this while googling and thought the models looked really cool (Red Blok FTW).
I can't code very well, and I'm still experimenting with spriting, so I'm afraid I can't help you very much, but you've got my full support

I hope he makes that Spetznaz Kolossus... That thing looks awesome. Speaking of which, are those machineguns or autocannons on it's arms?

'nade launchers, but there are in fact three different types of Kolossuses (and they move in squads!!!), so you're just seeing a variation. You've got rocket launchers, machine guns and flamethrowers too if I remember it right... Can't be bothered to check the site right now

Post Re: A few AT-43 mods anyone?
When I first saw AT-43 I thought it was a 40K ripoff. Then when I saw some of the models, I imagined a cross between Metal Slug, and Quake 4 (strogg). the last army you posted, i've never seen, and it reminded me of (shudder) Exo-squad... (I feel shamed for even remembering exo squad).

All in all I decided that the models themselves, art, and design, are just an amalgamation of all the 90's sci-fi i've ever seen. which is actually pretty damn cool. Then I saw the actual models first hand and saw that they are pre-painted, cheap plastic models... that bad rubbery plastic too... as a fa/tg/uy, it made me want to cry. but from what i've heard the gameplay isn't terrible, and on the upside the premade terrain pieces they have, are just perfect for kit-bashing into 40K. so cool artwork, decent gameplay, and cheaper than GW terrain pieces, I have become willing not to call AT-43 a total rip off of 40K.

As for mods into CC, I'd be more than willing to make pieces parts. you know, the weapons, the gibs, the effects and stuff. Unfortunately i'm scared of working on actors and the like, and i'm also moving tomorrow so my help will have to wait like a week. but I am interested (since 411570N3's ready to throw in the towel on the Tau Conversion. though it is for the most part complete.)

If I can still find this thread 8 days from now, I might throw some content at you. if it looks right I would DL this. sorry for the horribly long 'rant' about AT43, i just wanted to get it out of the way. It's not something I actually play or own any of, but I don't hate it.

Looks interesting should provide fodder for more mods (thats what we like eh?)

The minis look of a high quality generally and the mechs definately worth a go at modding.

Cheers for upping :D

Okay, so I went away and started coding and this is what I came up with.
Tell me what you think (i.e. Likes/dislikes, wants/don't wants.)

Special thanks to Metal Meltdown for help with Spriting.

Thanks.

Tested. Not bad, but I would increase the sharpness and lower the weight a bit. Right now it takes a full clip of headshots to kill a dummy.

Decent sprite, need a bit shading and tweaks to look like the real one, but otherwise cool gun, works well and I like the sound, although it should be noted that it's a gauss rifle (all red blok weapons are gauss powered), and I think you should add a bit more electric effects to the whole thing

A faction that uses only railguns?
Then they shouldn't have any recoil...
