And this is why I usually won't help anyone. What you're basically saying to the people who helped you is:

I know I'm being a jerk for saying that, but I lost a lot of my time as well.
Look at it from my perspective, I didn't just lose all the files, I lost everything on my computer. To redo everything, therefore not wasting the time of the people that have helped me, would mean rewriting the entire thing.

Woah man that's tough. I have experienced a similar fate (but it wasn't siblingly meddling, it was virus). You know Shamsy Electric Technologies? That was the rebuild of a vaguely space vikingish faction, which I got all the sprites finished when the accidentally unbackuped reinstall happened.
But hey, I got over it, and resprited it from scratch. A bit of theme change later, and we have that mod.
It's worth redoing, believe me.

You shouldn't just give up after something happens, just keep trying.
You should also always backup all your work onto a USB or portable harddrive to prevent anything like that from happening again.
I think you should just try making smaller mods until it gets easier for you then it won't be such a hassle for you to make one.

I actually did decide to mod again, and have been making good progress with a somewhat smaller mod. I may release it if I complete it.
