Well isn't hp set before death occurs? What if the attachable's destroy "key" was hp getting to/below a certain %?

I, uh, said pseudo attachable for that reason. Just use an MOSR and update it's position and angle each frame, and make it not collide with the actor.

Yah, I guess that would work, but if something happened that caused the actor to die instantly (i.e. dropship crash), it might still crash.

Also, it wouldn't solve the problem with the game crashing if a dropship or actor that has been converted goes back into space.

I have found a way to successfully switch actors teams, without causing crashes. It involves dropships. For some reason, if you abduct an actor and let them sit in the dropship for a while, they will get converted to your team.

I am trying to make a gun that changes actors teams using the clone and kill method, but it isn't done yet and I might not get it finished at all.

Well, why keep it in existence if theyre in a dropship? When youre in a dropship, youre either coming or going in my experience. It's a very rare occasion when I grab an actor and drop him somewhere else. There's just too much that can go wrong. One well placed shotgun blast will destroy the ship and everything in it....
And you shouldn't need the ability to buy a pre-converted unit, so dropping them in shouldnt be a problem.

I was simply stating that a fully functional team switching system exists inside of dropships. I was suggesting that this might be able to be used to create a team switching gun.
