Post Frame Skips, Low FS FPS, Really Annoying
I just recently got a new computer (about a week ago), and when I try to play Cortex Command, I experience relatively low framerates when in full screen (30 fps full screen, 333 - 1000 fps windowed) but whether I'm in full screen or not, I am constantly experiencing frame skips. I will look at the FPS, and it will say like 30 fps then the game will freeze for a second and for a split second it will say I have 0 fps. This is very annoying to try and play the game like this. It used to freeze randomly, but I *think* I fixed that by moving it out of Program Files and following the advice in this thread.

I doubt it is my computer, but here are the specs anyways:
Code:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 930 @ 2.80GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Hard Drive:    987 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600)

And according to the WEI:

Code:
Processor: 7.5
Memory: 7.5
Graphics: 7.4
Gaming Graphics: 7.4
Primary Hard Disk: 5.9

I don't know if that helps at all, but this is really annoying, if anyone can please tell me a way to fix this it would be much appreciated.

Program Files is really a killer. Never install CC in there 'cause it'll screw it up in every imaginable way.

So should I reinstall CC to a location that isn't Program Files? I originally installed it in Program Files but it isn't there anymore, and I am still experiencing FPS issues.

It's not that my computer can't run the game fast, it runs it at 333 - 1000 FPS windowed, but I am experiencing frame skips and I don't know how to get rid of it.

Try turning all the copatibility things into xp/administrator.
Oh and there are no 8 core i7s, only multithreaded quad cores.

I did that already, as I said in the first post.

And I just used Xfire to give me the specs cause I was too lazy to do it myself, I really only have a quad-core processor.

Yes but multithreading gives the appearance of extra logical cores, in essence allowing it to act as if there are eight. For software's sake, it's an octocore.

Yes but they aren't 2.8ghz each.

Sorry horribly offtopic.

Yes, but its not the OPs fault that hardware reporters are still struggling to figure out how to report multi-core, multi-threaded dies. He's probably just some guy who bought a computer who wants it to play his game.

I'm not computer illiterate. I just never had any problems like this on my last computer. I am experiencing similar problems in some of my other games as well, but they aren't as "important" as CC is.

Try pressing CTRL + O

Reenables the timesyncing. Also CC is not multithreaded, and never will be. Discussion end.
