Suddenly, Cortex command is deciding not to start, the game was working perfectly a few moments ago. When I try to start the game, I get the following error: Quote: Abortion in file .\System\Reader.cpp, line 531, because: Wrong type in Reader when passed to Serializable::Create() in Base.rte/Settings.ini at line 1! The last frame has been dumped to 'abortscreen.bmp' A moment ago the process was still running even when i couldn't start the game and every time I tried to close it with administrator access, it would say that i didn't have permission to terminate the process. I am running on Windows Vista with 2 GB of ram with an Pentium Dual core processor; if that information is of any use. Could there be any specific reason why this could be happening? |

Something corrupted your settings.ini, easiest fix is to install a new copy and copy over the settings.ini. Remember to hit the unregister before you do so though, just in case. |

Since i couldn't get into the game, i used the 'unregister' .bat file in the cortex command directory and received the same error, but then told me my key had been unregistered so i could use it elsewhere. Considering that I received the same error, is there any guarantee that it worked? Also, thanks for the help. |

You still need to reinstall cortex command. Unregister.bat is just so your key is freed up for when you reinstall. |

I meant that I was worried that for whatever reason, due to the issue why i couldn't start the game that the license key did not get unregistered, but nevermind; I reinstalled the game and re-registered the license key and it works perfectly. Thanks for the help. |

For future reference, even if it doesn't unregister properly you can reset it yourself online through the licensing page here. |
