Common Error One: Access Denied!

Hopefully this will work:

-uninstall CC from both computers (delete anything and everything);
-install CC on the xp computer. Does it run? If yes, go to the next step. Otherwise, abandon all hope.
-Copy the CC folder into a flash drive;
-Paste the folder into the vista computer, on the desktop;
-run CC.

This should solve your problem, since, from what you described, I'm guessing it originates from the installation procedure.

Common Error Four: Using the buy menu, switching to a certain tab freezes game.

Commonly Seen When: Playing Skirmish/Mission

Reason: One or more Actors, Guns, Crafts, Bomb, or Shield has 11 or more letter in a single row, eg: Worthlessman

How to fix: Go into the most recent Mod(s) and go into all the .inis and then find the following:

AddActor = AHuman
PresetName = Worthlessman <==== more than 11 letters

Change to

AddActor = AHuman
PresetName = Worthless man

Then it should work.

Listing the variables possible to find:

AddActor = [ACDropship, ACRocket, AHuman, ADoor]

AddDevice = [HeldObject, TDExplosive, HDFirearm]

Under each of these will be a Preset Name, just make sure one word doesn't exceed 11 letters.

Common Error Five: Skirmish Freezes When Enemy Troops On Screen

Commonly Seen When: Playing Skirmish

Reason: Unknown

How to fix: Reinstall CC, Make sure u back up the mods and Delete the cc folder after Uninstalling.

Common Solutions:

Put CC on the Desktop for Windows Vista or 7
Reinstall
Take out all the mods.

I'm getting the RTE error message.

It reads:

Abortion in file .\system\reader.cpp, line 532 because:

Wrong type in reader when passed to Serializable::Create() in base.rte/settins.ini at line 185!

The last frame has been dumped to 'abortscreen.bmp'

no need to do that open up the settings.ini up scroll to the bottom. See the bottom is cut off, just erase from the cut off till you reach the bottom of the next player controls. DO NOT ERASE FARTHER THAN THERE!!!

When it happens like that, expect with the settings I don't delete the whole of Base.rte but I delete the settings.ini and then it magically comes back later, but this other thing happened so I deleted Base.rte and then brought it back from the recycling bin.

Reminder...
Do not delete any rte from the installation, also don't mess around with the files within, AND DON'T DELETE FILES INSIDE IT EITHER.

One word. Reinstall

then don't touch anything thats in the base folders.

just run the uninstall in the cc directory.. After removing your mods.
Then delete the cc folder directory and reinstall.
