WTF IS GOING ON?! Lower Spec, Higher CC Performance?!
This is really confusing me. I have a PC. It has a 1.8Ghz Single Core Processor, with 2GB of RAM. It plays Cortex Command quite a bit slowly - so what, after all, 1.8GHz is hardly stunning, eh?
However, this is the biter bit. I have a laptop. I recently got Cortex installed on it so that I can play it when I'm out and about. It has 1.8Ghz processor, with only 1GB of RAM.
It plays Cortex with no lag at all. Perfectly smooth, 60FPS, timescale 1.00x, (and with TimeScaling on, that is).
What is going on here? Whenever I play Cortex I make sure there's no background apps running anyway on my PC, so that can be discounted.
The only difference in the processors is that the Desktop PC's one is an AMD, and the Laptop's one is an Intel.
Why on earth that should make such a stunning difference, I'll never know. In the meantime, yay! Fullspeed Cortex!
The reason I'm posting this is that maybe some people who have inexplicable Cortex problems are using AMD chipsets? In which case, could Data and the rest of the team have a look at that?

CC simply likes some builds more.

They're both running B23, with the same amount of mods. O_o

For me, CC runs mostly really slow. 2.53ghz dual-core, 2gb or RAM.

In layman's terms "yo shyt iz wack dawg, fix yo pc. dat shyt obvi broke mang." Seriously. If a higher-end machine isn't performing at the expected level, you've obviously got some kind of CPU drain (spyware, too many applications running concurrently), or you put the machine together wrong.

Or there could be other hardware factors(RAM timings, ect.).

Is the resolution different? Less pixels = Less resolution = Less graphics for the processor to worry about. Also, laptops commonly use different kinds of hard disk and RAM to desktop PCs. I'm not sure what though. (I must dig out that old APC mag) One thing, some laptops are configured (I think) to allow programs to run at the same speed as they would on a desktop PC while sacrificing the amount of apps that can be run simultaneously. In other words, maybe your laptop is just giving more effort into running CC. Just don't try running anything else at the same time.

If the processors have different manufacturers, then the frequency they run at might not be the most accurate way of comparing them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megahertz_Myth

There are plenty of other factors educated buyers can use to compare products. Only noobs fall for the megahertz myth.

Well, sorry for being a noob or whatever, but if processor usage doesn't matter, why do games with better graphics need more hertz on the sys requirements? o.0
