Post Game is very slow
Hi

I just got a laptop : Toshiba Satellite P300 1DT

Here is a french website with the specs at the bottom of the page

http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00081898.html

I formatted it, reinstalled XP and all of the drivers, and Cortex Command is really, really slow on it.
I used to play it on a much older laptop and it was running perfectly.

Can someone help please ?

2ghz processor eh. 800mhz RAM eh.
If you are running at your screen resolution, it will be REALLY DAMN SLOW.
Running on a 1.6ghz proc gave me 0.25x speed.

I ran it at a 640 * 480 resolution and it was still slow.

And "bigger" games like Flatout 2 or X3 Terran Conflict work perfectly.

Moreover, it runs perfectly on my old laptop which is the Asus A8F :

Eh. CC just doesn't like some machines, this must be one of them. Sorry.

in any case, go to wherever you installed CC, and then open base.rte/settings.ini
raise the value on the line "DeltaTime =" by increments of .01

as kallemort said, CC likes some machines and doesnt like others. obviously more CPU power and RAM will help, but if CC decides it doesnt like your computer, good luck getting it to run nicely :P
but, to reiterate, raise your deltatime slowly.

I tried this, but when I put more than 0.05 the game won't even start at all. :(

Even the loading screen and the game menu are slow...

Also, there's Windows Live Messenger contact window that's damn slow too....

THanks anyway for your help, I'll tell you if I find anything

Sounds you may have a virus, mutiple trojans or possibly all of the above. What do you use for Anti-virus?

I can only really suggest what has already been mentioned. CC just doesn't like your computer... otherwise, Virus, background progresses, etc. have already been suggested.

This topic makes me sad. :-(

I ran the demo of this that came with the May 2008 issue of PC Gamer on a college computer. I installed it around 7:00, and didn't stop until aroun 12:00. But when I got back to my dorm, where I just have a HP Pavilion dv6000, 1.9 GHz, GeForce GO 6150, it ran really slow, punctuated by brief periods of normal speed.

I'm just curious. What's that supposed to do?

DeltaTime is the time the game uses to calculate changes.

By raising it you make the game work less hard with minimal game impact.

Also, OP, I have a Toshiba Satellite U205 that seems to run the game fine, so unless there's a major difference, I'd say make sure you don't have any viruses or trojans.

Well that doesn't make sense

Isn't the time a game calculates changes based on how fast your processor is? And what's the drawback, what happens if you set it too high?

delta time is the time between simulation frames. by default it is .01667 (or simmilar) which means the simulation runs at about 60fps. if you set it too high motion becomes choppy and MOPixels start behaving strangely. clipping errors and the like can happen too. as a rule, 0.066 should be the maximum (15 fps, ♥♥♥♥ choppy) but you can go higher. instead of .05 intervals, i suppose .01 is more appropriate.
