You aren't the first complaining about this, for example this happens to my friend all the time. Never happened to me thought..
Try reinstalling, turn off mods and so foward..

Re: crash in 2 player skirmish
Mods almost certainly cause this problem. Remove all mods, then put them back in 1 at a time, loading each one seperately and checking each time.

Re: crash in 2 player skirmish
Well then, it's a problem with your computer, probably it isn't fast enough to process 2 players. Although mine is fast enough.

Re: crash in 2 player skirmish
CC is amazingly uncaring of system specs though. it tends to like newer hardware though, and more RAM, however it works blazingly quick on this 1.5GHz dual core laptop on small-medium scenes (larger scenes are limited by it's 1GB RAM), but gratingly slow on my 3.2GHz P4 (single core) box. on my friend's AMD Athlon X64 it works shittily, and on another friends almost identical computer (another Athlon, same model, i think a liiiiiiiiitle more ram) its almost as fast as it is on this lappy. tl;dr: system specs are fuzzy for CC, obviously faster is better but its still pretty grey.
