Explorer.exe is the windows file manager. You can run programs and shut it down quite safely. It'll eliminate a decent chunk of CPU usage as well. When you shut down windows you can run new tasks quite easily; ctrl alt del, file, new process! Amazing science!
Took my post. Also, for some people Ctrl + Alt + Del goes to this stupid menu thing, were you select to shutdown your computer, sleep, hibernate, or go to the Task Manager (It's that way for me, not sure why). So I just use Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
