Post Referenced memory error?
Hi guys

Purchased the full version of Cortex Command, loving it so far. I'm only having one problem - I start a game in skirmish mode, play for a while (sometimes 5 minutes - sometimes 40) it crashes with a reference memory window. I have taken a screenshot.

Image

The strange thing is it doesn't seem to happen for any reason. the usual too many units on the map isn't a problem because I've had literally 100's on the map at the same (don't ask how) time and it didn't crash. it has happened sometimes when I swap to another unit, it has happened when a ship crashes, hell it's even happened when a guy gets shot... no reoccurring reason.

Here's my system specs just in case you need em:

Running windows Vista 32 bit (As not many things will work on Vista 64 bit for some reason)

AMD 64 bit 6400+ Black edition CPU
4GB Corsair DDR800 memmory
320GB hard drive
Sound Blaster Fatal1ty sound card
Powercolor ATI 1GB 2900XT Graphics card (which is currently being overclocked core = 746mhz and memmory at 1005mhz)

Any ideas on what is causing the problem as I think my computer can handle it.

4GB should be plenty of memory. The only reason this would happen, then, is if you've got some mod with a very fast memory leak. Mostly likely something that emits particles while in an inventory.

Something that emits particles eh?

Hmmmm that gives me a clue at least of what to look for, possibly hand grenades, flamethrowers ect...

I'll keep my eyes open for crashes when I'm using these things, thanks am mil

Hand grenades shouldn't be the problem. Things that emit particles constantly, even when in your inventory.

Hmmm things that emit particles constantly in my inventory.... I don't think I have any mods that do that. By grenades I meant the incidenary ones that create constant particles for a while. anyways tried to make the game crash with just normal guns today (no flamethrowers or plasma stuff) it seems to be working fine but I dont have the pleasure of taking stuff out with a plasma connon anymore. is there a list of 'Safe mods' on the forum anywhere?

P.S whilst I'm on the topic, is there any way to give enemy units the ability to use all the mod weapons and bodies?

There are no "safe" mods. Any mod is capable of crashing your game; some just happen to do it somewhat more frequently.

However, about the AI using modded weapons: http://www.datarealms.com/wiki/index.ph ... ni_Editing
