Ok, so I bought the Support Data Realms package, and played through just about everything that's available thus far, and I've got a few questions that may or may not be better of in the FAQ page. 1) Just how big is this game going to get? Does everything take place on one planet? Will there be arcade-style schmup levels as you travel from planet to moon to asteroid etc? Nobody knows yet. 2) Is it strictly RTS? Will there be places where you can explore at your leisure without constantly worrying about home base, kinda like in the old Star Control games where you can search uninhabited places for resources and ancient artifacts? There will be limited RTS elements in the final game. Data has always stated that this is not a RTS. 3)Does the brain at home base need to be fed? Think how Robocop needed to take a Baby Food break to nourish his organic parts. The liquid around the brain is it's nourishment. 4) Will people who buy the SDR package get their names in the credits? Yes |

I can't really tell you how big the game will get. We absolutely know there will be fights on the planet and the moon. 2). Much of the game elements you see in the current build will be the general mould as how far gritty combat and mining goes. In IRC, Data did think aloud about a metagame element. You know, an overworld where you manage gold mining bases and bring your corporation to dominate the new planet. But, no promises are made. 3). Brain is nourished by the contents in the jar. 4). Probably not. Someone did spread a rumor around that people who bought the SDR package were going to be in the credits. This idea completely surprised Data in the IRC. If anything, SDR package buyers may get an early beta of a build, or something of the sort. For the most part, satisfaction of supporting an indy developer is the reward. |

I guess someone did edit in those answers. I certainly didn't put them there. Where's the bit that says "Last edited by..."? Here's another. 5) In regards to #2, will the game play mission-by-mission, a la Advance Wars or whatever's brand new outta Japan, or is Single Player mode mostly skirmish quickgame style, like Master of Orion and whatnot. 6) Please tell me there will be "Worms" style artillery modes. :grovel: |

As far as I can tell, the game will have a quick metagame, followed by decently long missions. Maybe half an hour to forty five minutes, depending on how fast you do them. Prom, the second dev, who does the art, and helps with concepts, has said that you may be able to redo scenarios to "bulk up" for the next one. He didn't really explain that, but it may mean that you can keep certain resources, placement on the "tech tree", or something like that between games. There may be artillery weapons; people have already made a few, and modders can do them anytime. However, it's unlikely that any first-party MISSIONS will have you inside of a siege gun, shooting at your opponent. The game structure falls into a basic mold. |

i didn't mean sitting in a turret like the BeachHead games, i meant artillery in the turn-based sense, like Worms. although, a turret defense type bonus level might actually work. like, you get cash based on how long you last, plus extra for combo kills and stuff. ooh! and bosses, gotta have bosses. |

predcon wrote: bosses, gotta have bosses. Hmm, how would bosses work? I mean, if players can just modify their current weaponry in Base.rte.... future Pistol settings.ini wrote: Sharpness: ROFLGOMP DAMAGE HOLY SHAZOBT LOL. Thus being said, the player would simply drop a pistol on a boss to destroy his limbs. I would do that atleast... |

Like I said previously: That TOTALLY violates the way the game works, makes no sense, and is rather dumb. If you want to do it, learn to Lua and make it yourself. In the next few builds. |
