Re: play online (wip)
Is this the only way to get the source code? Is there a program that will get the source code?
You know if you think this is a scam, then forget the check if the key is valid.

If the username has a registered copy according to the forum (no cracks on teh forums) then it will count as registered. Otherwise trial version. no password, no key, just username. only one instance of a username at a time. this encourages people to register in the forums. and as for hiding if you registered is only from other users. so if you buy the game, you can have the forum think you didn't, so that noone tries to log in as you. because no password or key is used, there is no fear of theft.

Re: play online (wip)
You see, there is an inherent problem with getting the source from Data. He makes money off of his game here, and if you had the source code you could simply recompile it and rip off his game.
He's not going to give you the source code unless you're some networking code guru, telling you right now.

Re: play online (wip)
If you don't know how source code works, I strongly doubt that you will be able to get this working in any way at all. The reason nobody has gotten the source code by now is that Data does not wish to release it. If he did, as Duh pointed out, you would be able to easily steal the game and make money off of it instead of him. As well, trying to decompile the game so you can get the source code is not only difficult, it's illegal. Take a look at the license agreement, section number 2: Cortex Command License Agreement wrote: 2. Cortex Command: You acknowledge that no title to the intellectual property in the Software is transferred to you. Title, ownership, rights, and intellectual property rights in and to the Software shall remain that of Data Realms LLC. The Software is protected by copyright and patent laws of the United States and international treaties. Until you can convince Data himself to surrender his intellectual property to you (the code), or find some other way of setting this up (which is entirely possible), I'm going to lock this thread.

Re: play online (wip)
Please PM me when your first working copy is uploaded or you have some picz of your server farm with you holding the current newspaper with "weasel rulez" written on it with lipstick.
At that time you may reopen this topic.
