Compression software?
Can anyone link me to freeware mac compressor software? Preferably .rte to .rar? That would be great. Sorry, I didn't know where to put this.

Re: Compression software?
http://www.win-rar.comwinrar isnt free, but if you go over the trial limit it just prompts you every time you open it. no problem. and .rte isnt a filetype.

http://rar.en.softonic.com/mac/downloadfor ease. also, the trial (if its anything like the windows versions) never actually loses functionality.

Re: Compression software?
Question: I'm a technophobe, so how do I .rar things? I can't find a simple 'This is how you do it' in the folder readme. Figured it out, tyvm.

Re: Compression software?
Kind of late to the post, but "7zip" is WAY BETTER then winrar. FREE, compatible with more kinds of files, faster, no annoying popups, AND it has a simplier interface. I'd recommend it.

Re: Compression software?
yeah, i was going to say 7z, but because of no mac support and the fact that he's a technophobe (so darwine would be out of the question) i figured winrar would be better. anyway, this is solved now.

I thought macs were supposd to be user-friendly and easy to use. Lord, man, its this simple: Alt-click, select compress, file archive created! No need to install garbageware! :]

Re: Compression software?
i think he wanted it .rar'd, but yeah, the default mac archiver (stuffit?) does zips fine. if people complain about .zip, tell them to eat something sour.

Sorry, I was having a really bad day, took one look at the 'Lord man', and promptly overreacted.
