Post Conversions and my thoughts on them.
Well, the mod forum's been swamped in conversions lately. Some people have a problem with it, some don't. I for one do. By converting someone's work, you deprive them of the experience of reviving it, and also the chance to add new work to it. You're not only depriving them, you're depriving yourself and the community of new content, which is at a premium at the moment. My solution to this is the following: You may convert work, but you must both A. Credit the original creator of the mod and B. Remove the content should they ask. This solves the problem of having inactive modders and active modders. Alenth asked me to post this in order to get the view of the community, so discuss.

The way I see it, there are a few options we have here:

Closed license (creator is the only person allowed to distribute and modify)
Flexible Creative Commons licenses
GNU GPL and other similar open source licenses
Public domain

I think we should be using Some sort of Creative Commons license (that the creator selects).

I agree with those two rules for converting stuff

I think that original media should be licensed as the author sees fit.

Code, on the other hand, should be freely usable/modifiable by anyone if it's posted on these forums. Users would have to agree before posting mods.

Wargh, OP needs formatting.. Although I do agree 100% with it. Converting other people's mods and not giving them credit is like taking candy from a baby (okay terrible analogy, I know)

126 words. Stop whining, it's barely enough for a single paragraph.

I meant like
*TEXT*
A.
B.
*TEXT*

I couldn't even tell there WAS an A/B thing in there until I saw the third post...

This isn't a legal document or the like, so that was how it should go. When you read something like this, don't skim. Read.
