I need to list, Three heterotrophs, and the autotrophs. I need to anser this annoying question on "Do all autotrophs use sun as an energy source? Explain." So far for the "List three heterotrophs" I have Animals and Bacteria. For "List three autotrophs" I have Algae and Plants. And for the "Do all autotrophs use sun as an energy source? Explain." question, I have "Not all, some plants need good soil for for growth." |

Soil is a nutrient source, not an energy source. They're asking if there are any creatures that happen to create energy via chemosynthesis. I have a sneaking suspicion you are not doing so well in this class. |

Hurr, Whitty fails. Most use chlorophyll and photosynthesis for energy, yes, but there are organisms that generate chemical energy without ever seeing sunlight. As THOR said, chemosynthesis. |

Since when do you all doubt my library of arcane knowledge? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemosynthesis |

Yes, grifs got it down, dont forget the things that live near the sulfur vents in the ocean. No sunlight down there, so hwo to generate the energy needed by plant life? Exactly. |

What grade are you in? I got a test with similar questions in the seventh grade... |

Nephilim wrote: Heat. Its not heat, its the presence of specific chemicals (hence chemosynthesis). Also lol at Funtastic trying pretend I was wrong, but saying Grif was right, when what Grif said was confirm what I said. Funtastic is a failure. |

Was more of a stab in the dark than anything. Heat helps too. |

Yes yes. Heat is definitely a part of it. Chemosynthesis tends to occur around extremely hot locales. |

Eh, that may just be a coincidence, considering the vents are hot and they vomit chemicals into the ocean. |

I'm pretty sure that some algae at the bottom of the ocean use the nutrients coughed up by those smoke vents. |
