Post Vista vs. XP
Everyone seems to hate Windows Vista, me included, but I just want to know why, I got a new computer (you all know how much my old one sucked), and it had Vista home premium on it, and I haven't had any problems, besides the occasional compatibility issue, but more or less 90% of everything is compatible with Vista, so tell me, why does everyone say XP is better, other than system resources because Vista (for me anyway) has never taken more than like 50mb of RAM on windows explorer, etc.

Anyway, this is not a rant, this is me defending Windows Vista, and I want this discussion to stay civil, the first flame on here and I'm calling it to be locked. Also, I'm deciding to add a poll, for which OS you use.

Vista, if you're just getting Basic, is a suped up version of XP. You're getting very little in the way of new features and a mouthfull of problems if you're running on older hardware (which I'm not - just pointing it out). So because of that, I don't want to blow a couple hundred on a fancy version of what I already have :D.

Nah, I'm not saying Vista's worse than XP - just for now, the possible benefits are heavily outweighed by the cons. First of which, is that I don't have money to burn :D. Now, say MS decides to bundle Vista with Halo 2 (or some other Vista-only game) at a discount ... I'll seriously consider it.

But again, yeah. Cons > Pros.

I haven't seen many problems yet, and right now it's only worth it if your buying a new PC that comes with it, but yeah, I think it's a killer deal if it comes with your PC.

SABAYON > VISTA UNLESS GAMING

SABAYON > XP > VISTA UNLESS GAMING, AND EVEN THEN IT DEPENDS ON THE GAME

I still prefer XP right now, but I'm guessing that when Vista SP1 comes, most of the major problems will be fixed. I agree that the flaws of Vista are usually blown way out of proportion.

I use Arch Linux on my main system, though.

In my opinion Linux is the failed demon baby of Windows and Mac.

Yes, let's keep flaming out of this thread, shall we?

I mean, that totally wasn't a troll, at ALL.

Sabayon has all the functionality of Vista, without the negative aspect of being horrible.

If you missed it, what I was saying earlier was that the only reason to get Vista would be for gaming, but, only DX10 compatible games.

And you know, if you get a new PC, you get Vista with it and can't remove it, no exceptions.

You should look at its history.
