SUPER SMASH BROTHERS TOURNAMENT WEEKEND (semi-monthly)
IMPORTANT: The new IRC channel is #drlsmash.
I'm still getting everything worked out so a more informative post will come later.
You need:
Mupen64k (yes, it crashes sometimes, but it's one of the fastest emulators out there)
A SSB ROM: I cannot give sources. I can discuss ROM emulation and play, but you'll have to find it on your own.
An IRC client for chat and pre-game organization. Join the DRL Chat IRC (instructions are on the forums somewhere).
Sign here once you get all that stuff if you want to participate. It is preferred you are in America somewhere.
OFFICAL RULES (as of 8/30/07)
1. The Tournament will take place on Saturdays and/or Sundays. It should generally not be an all day event.
2. For the Tournament of 9/1/07, we will be playing a FREE FOR ALL tournament with only one winner.
3. Videos of the matches will be uploaded to YouTube (or similar video sharing services), for viewing pleasure.
4. The Tournament at maximum will have 12 players, meaning at most there will be 3 games going on at the same time. We will also have judges for each set of games. These judges are:
- CherryT (me)
- LordTim
- zalo (if he joins)
Judges will be the ONLY ONES allowed to report winnings on the IRC. I will not accept results from anyone else.
5. Official games will be STOCK with 5 LIVES.
6. Use of Capitan Falcon IS permitted, but generally frowned upon by most players.
IMPORTANT, READ THIS:
Scoring:
Scoring is determined by NUMBER OF TOTAL KILLS, not wins. This means that plays can lose rounds without losing the whole tournament. This also means that someone can lose the final match and still win (if he has more kills, he will probably win anyway, but the Smash Master should be able to get a large amount of kills. This also prevents cheap wins in which players may still be able to win a match by not dying once.).
