On the far left side of the window if you click this annoying window pops up and takes over like 1/10 of the opera browser, is there any way to completely disable it?

Also, on the far right of the screen I can't drag the bar, but yeah...I know there's nothing to do about that...

Solution: http://www.getfirefox.com

Also, sounds like Spyware. Uninstall Opera (no, seriously), run a Spyware remover, then reinstall Opera (or--yknow--a better browser).

Additionally, do you have the version of Opera that is--well--actually free? Opera was an ad-based browser for some time. You might have downloaded an old, non-free version. If this is the case, and you dont want to upgrade, consider searching for "Windows Sniper" which hides windows that you cant make go away (like banners).

It's not spyware. It's a feature.

I have it set up so that when I click over there, 2 more clicks gets me straight into the DRL IRC, and 1 click shows me who's on Xbox Live.

If you want to turn it off, go into Appearance, click the Panels tab, and untoggle the "Show panel toggle at edge of window." box.
