CCRPG Revamp.
Alenth wrote: I am planning on redoing a lot of the CCRPG to make it more user friendly, and less based on pure numbers(because there's no element of chance in that, so it's not much fun). This thread started becuase of this battlemap idea. There would be a limit on how many people you can put in a base, which could be increased by building more buildings etc. There would also be a max on the number of attackers... Then random numbers would be rolled, orders given(you might want to have your guys direct their fire at certain units). Eventually either someone retreats or is destroyed. Units might get ranks, and brain distance would play a role in order giving(transmissions take time). Posted after 2 minutes 1 second: Circles for air units xs for ground. Turrets and stuff would be a part of the revamp.
Ignore that up there, keep reading and you will see that we are moving onto planning on putting the game in BYOND.

Perhaps a grid method for the BattleMaps as well, what I posted is a sideview, but perhaps top-down will work better?
I kinda like teh CC feel of the sideview, but dealing with weapon ranges and stuff is wierd...

We are considering using BYOND for the revamp, trying to determine how various features may play into it.

Everything I've heard so far about it seems like it would work perfectly fine in byond. I know it would all be possible, as any problems you've mentioned to me have been done by other games, so I know it's possible.

Just need to get sprites and stuff, nothing will need to be animated since it's turn based...
Daman, opinion on turn queueing turns, or maybe just having units keep with their current order if a person doesn't take their turn within the time limit?
Saving and pausing perhaps...?
