Post Warhammer 40k?
Me and my friend thought it would be a kinda' fun hobby to play Warhammer.
We were thinking of buying the Battle for Maccrage (or whatever) set, and dividing the armies. (I get Space Marines)
Would that be a good idea? Is there anything else absolutely necissary I should get? I'm not rich either, just the basics. Are the boosters worth it? Also, what about painting? Should I get their paints or buy my own? Acrylics? Ect.

Thanks.

yes its a good idea. no its not necessary. boosters? do you mean the individual metal models? if so, they aren't worth it to you at this stage(they have special characters and a lot of them are expensive(points wise)). And I would recommend that you use thier paints, just because they're designed for use on polystyrene plastics.

I do warhammer 40k, it looks quite a good deal. I'm not sure if it includes paints etc.
I have the beasty hardback edition of the rulebook.
It's about £ 25 now I think, when I bought it when it had just came out it was £40

I used to, but it seemed too complicated. And I liked messing round with the figures more than I liked painting them.

But I love the back story and check to website occasionally to see what's going on in 40k.

I used to play it, but I sold all my stuff to get money for Airsoft >.> I almost had a 500 point Tyranid Army. Me and my bro did what the OP did. It's a good idea, it comes with everything except the dice IIRC.

When I said boosters, can't you buy little packs of like 5 different random figures, like you do buying cards? D:

hmm... I to bought warhammer. Never thought of the macrage set. Paint, I recoment buying theirs. You get less, but if you want a speific color scheme, for example the ultra marines. Then you can search the internet etc for that color scheme. But they give their paints names, so its harder to paint using your own.

Yours may say yellow, theirs will say sunshine yellow and sand yellow and onion yellow and cheese...

For some *cough*more interesting*cough* armies, these are more important but with a Marine army you can get by probably without getting any for a long while. You'll have enough with the Macragge set to keep you busy in the meantime. I also highly recommend their paints, it's not like buying Ford-brand oil for your car or some crap like that, they really are much better than cheap ones and will save you time and frustration in the long run.

Sigh, someday my 3000 point Craftworld army will see light of battle again =P

if you are gona collect space marines I do suggest you buy 1 or 2 'boaster' packs. Buy the assault troop pack and a rhino or predator. They are cool

Painting is haaaaaaaarrrrrrrddddddddd but isn't entirely necessary. Just makes them look pretty. You have to have patience to play this game.

Heh, you think there's too many rules now, you should have seen the second edition. Made current 40K look like Naughts and Crosses. I was fortunate in that I only ever played it once before the shift to the much-cleaner third edition. I think it's on the fourth now? Which is pretty much identical to the third, except they changed some pictures in the rulebook and something happened with the Assault phase (I forget exactly what, now).
