I want to upgrade my video card to a DirectX 10 card. Assume that price is not a problem, if the card is $450 and below. Should I get one of the nVidia's that are currently on the market, wait until ATI releases some more of the R600, or what?
Also, assume that I can get only 1 card, and that while power suppling isn't a problem, the only external cooling possible would be through an upgraded fan.

You should wait until there are more games using DX10 technology. Also, a good cooling is essential for these cards. Fans, until they are in perfect state and new or seminew, give too much problems. A liquid cooling system is better, they're more effective, don't require cleaning and deteriorate slower than fans, but they're very expensive and not so easy to install.

That pretty much explains my short experience with cooling systems :D
