Post subject: | New on the block, but not to the game |
Hello, seems like a ghost town around here so I hope my presence brings about a breath of fresh air instead of the one who brings the house crashing down (every forum I've joined, ever, I've either been lost in the mix or the forum died ) and I'd like to start by saying I'm very glad to see that there are still modders working on this game as well as the game itself slowly developing. I don't know what it is about this game that make me play it considering it's still in it's early stages of development, but there is something about it that keeps me around (even more so than games like minecraft, terraria, etc.) and keeps me playing. But I digress, these are the fan forums; the place I've lurked for the past couple years so I can snag some sweet mods for the release that is out for that half-decade (shameless plug at the developers XD ) and now I've decided that I want to begin contributing. For my first project I want to modify the images taken from one of the best flash games in existence, CombatHeaven, found at website I won't post because I'm not allowed to advertise things that aren't mine (you can google I'm pretty sure). Play the game once and you'll see what I mean. I continue to digress, I am now beginning to teach myself how to create gibs and learn the code that I will need to create a new .rte file which will contain two complete (and competing) factions along with scenes, bunker bits, locations, and all the good stuff that makes Cortex Command such a joy to play. I hope that this first post garners some encouragement from my fellow CC fans to give me a little motivation to really get the ball rolling on my mod. |

Thank you Kettenkrad, it is really nice to know I'm not posting to a vacuum XD Is this an ok place to post my concept art, pictures, sprites, etc. that I will be working from to create the mod? I've browsed the other parts of the forum and this seems like the best place to start. |

I think the Art Dump would be best for concepts - if you want to receive (sometimes) constructive criticism. Otherwise creating a new topic in Mod Making would be a good idea. |

Thanks, I'll head over there as soon as I piece together a couple concept pieces. |

Hola senor paco! (Please excuse the crippled Spanish, SIR DUCK.) Welcome to the forums, broseph. If you check out the Off-Topic section, it's about 80% less dead. Anyway, if you need any simple help, you can talk to me. I'm good at pitching ideas and I can decently create sprites if you need. Enjoy your stay, ok? |

I'm very glad to hear that, check this out and tell me if yall think it'd be plausible to recreate the actors from the flash game viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10691&start=6090 |

yeah, I've spent slightly more time browsing the other parts of the forum which I've avoided before and discovered the right place to introduce myself, but at this point it seem moot to do so. oh and I do plan to work my friend, it's going to be some time before yall see any progress I'm afraid |

I moved it here from General due to how you were talking about modding, fully introductory-only posts would go into the introduction topic in off topic but I figured you might want to talk about mod making as well. |

again, I've looked and cannot find anything on muzzle flashes, I'm sure it's there, but I'm not seeing it. I want to add my own muzzle flash to some of my guns, but I have no idea where the Flash = Attachable CopyOf = Muzzle Flash Pistol comes from, specifically the CopyOf TL;DR how to make custom muzzle flashes |

It's just a simple attachable, but iirc the defaults are found in Base.rte/Effects/Pyro/Pyro.ini |
