Some of you may watch Adventure Time, an interesting show. You might have also noticed a lot of strange things within the show. Like all of the subtle hints of the show being post-apocalyptic. e.g, the abandoned subway full of dead bodies in the Lich episode, the abandoned structures, the bombshells, the view of their world with giant chunks missing, and the "mushroom war". It all led up to the latest episode, Holly Jolly Secrets, the episode where Finn and Jake watch the Ice Kings video diaries. I'm not going to shove the spoilers in your face, but you can watch them if you want.

Eh, it mostly skirts around the serious parts, preferring to stick in the stone-cold retarded zone.
I mean if it focused more on the post-apocalyptic parts and that thing about the Ice King and the crown, I'd watch the ♥♥♥♥ out of that. But no, Adventure Time averts its eyes, pretend they don't exist, and just goes back to hurping the derp all day long.

This show seemed like a normal kids show but it looks more like something you'll get from Adult Swim.

I know Cartoon Network owns Adult Swim since it's just a late night session of Adult cartoons.The show is now clear to me now and that explains all the weird stuff too especially how Jake can morph like that.

So when he says it will "save [him] from the frost", is he referring to nuclear winter?

Yeah. It implies he uses his powers to create an ice kingdom and protect himself from the nuclear winter.
