Post subject: | Post Rock/Math Rock |
While, judging that Dubstep gets its own thread, I believe that post rock warrants its own. For those unfamiliar with post rock, its a style of music, consisting mainly of instrumentals. It often makes use of many different time signatures. Math rock is a similar genre, making use of different time signatures and instrumentals, math rock has more angular sound however, and is even slightly jazzy. Some of my favorite post rock: 65DaysOfStatic: This cat is a landmine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmnJ1g3r ... ature=fvwp 65DaysOfStatic: Retreat, retreat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WneDU-K3 ... re=related Godspeed You! Black Emperor: Moya. (4 minute cello intro can be to much for some people, but most people love the guitar bit afterwords) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsf2LoLk3SA GYBE: Storm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynoMnQDy8Tk Mogwai: I know you are but what am I? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNvhly-N ... re=related Mogwai: Take me somewhere nice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHO6pbjQ9ec My friend and I might make some of our own this summer. Discuss post rock and math rock, and share your favorites. |
