Re: Favorite Books - The original fun for you who are new to 'em
Huckleberry Finn is probably my least favourite book ever.
My favourites? The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card Hyperion by Dan Simmons Spellsinger Trilogy by Alan Dean Foster Invitation to the Game by Monica Hughes (though I haven't read it in years)
None of them are "great renowned smarty pants books", I go for the self-indulgence.

If anyone says anything by Dan Brown they are automatically docked over nine thousand internets.

Can't go wrong with Catch-22, or Isaac Asimov's Robots series. Anything by Ray Bradbury is also quite good.

Summer Of Night by Dan Simmons. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. (the classic evil carnival). The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien The Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkien The Eye, The Ear, and The Arm by Nancy Farmer (mutant detectives in the future). 47 by Walter Mosley (this book was interesting, it was about an African American slave who discovers he's an alien). The Thief of Always by Clive Barker The Abarat by Clive Barker The Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War by Clive Barker (Clive Barker is a great author, but really strange).
I also liked the Redwall Series by Brian Jacques, but I recently realized its slightly racist implications.

Re: Favorite Books - The original fun for you who are new to 'em
I'm quite a serial reader, so: Redwall books. Anything by Card. Tomorrow series. Pratchett. Was pleasantly surprised by the Bartemaeus trilogy, esp. considering I only read it cos the first book was fat with a nice design. Garth Nix. Mebbe some Raymond E. Feist. Same goes for David Eddings. Master & Commander series. Mebbe some Robin Hobb, although having a series of series gets a little funky sometimes. Ursula K. le Guin. Some Asimov, although I really haven't read enough to say much. Recently read The Night Watch trilogy by Sergei Lukyanenko and liked it. The Obernewtyn(sp) cronicles, although some of the later ones get a little dull. This version of 1001 arabian nights. I mention this one specifically as I've heard some versions are rather dodgy and have been turned into childrens tales. They're not. I certainly don't know of any children who'd enjoy that much erotica-esque stuff. Great otherwise.
