is it just me or dose it seem more than a little hypocritical that useing cc you can shoot some one in the face repeatedly untill their head literally explodes showering the landscape with blood, brains and the shreded remains of a humans scalp. yet you can be baned from the site for posting a flying c##k mod!
i would like to point out im not deffending the c##k mod, it was a stupid idea. i just find the strange ballence between whats considered acceptable and whats not, very ammusing.

western society is inherently more accepting of blood/violence than sexual themes

it's also hardly hypocritical; we never claimed that the game itself is family friendly, it's just that the forum atmosphere is supposed to be

What Data wants to put into his game is his call. However, we have to keep the forums clean enough for under 13's to be able to browse it without getting sued/yelled at because it would screw up Data's business. If people want to moan about the game being too violent, fine, but we have rules here and people have to adhere to them.

Also, you can bribe me with copious amounts of Lima beans. Being an automated Moderation System doesn't mean I don't have my guilty pleasures.

I'd say almost nobody below the age of thirteen has had sex. In contrast, almost everyone has had experiences with blood and gore by the time they're eight, whether it is by video games or real life.

If that wasn't enough, blood doesn't really bother people... unless they're squeamish.
However, many people find sexual references unsettling or disgusting.



And still, this is in no way hypocrisy. Perhaps you need to read the definition again?

This would be hypocrisy if a user was banned for posting a mod that showered the map in blood. That is not the case. They are completely different offenses.

PS: If this "strange ballence" amuses you, then get your priorities straight. I think that if you asked some people off of the street which was worse (Mild Violence or Sexual Content.) almost all fo them would agree that the latter is much worse.
In fact, companies like ESRB agree with this.

While they may not have committed the act itself, they've still had encounters with the experience (in both sexuality and violence). Might just be where I live, but if you were to walk down and ask someone if they'd rather kill or sex, I'd assume they'd choose the latter.

@Grif: Technically speaking, it's still hypocritical. This forum revolves around the game. Guns that can cause your enemies to explode and melt are still allowed, where as his mod containing a flying(?) penis was not. Non-technically speaking, they're really rather different subjects related only by the fact of what's age-appropriate, the only note on which it's somewhat hypocritical.

That aside, the rules are rather cut n' clear. However debatable, when it comes down to it (s)he broke those rules.

The difference, really, is that forcing penises in my face would be violating my right to religion. I happen to be a Christian, and pornography(by a biblical definition, not today's standards) is stated to be a tool of the devil.

But religions across the world really are all familiar with bloodshed, as violence is one of the key aspects.

I think it's also the way it is presented. It was crude and meant to shock, as opposed to being for the sake of art or accuracy. Like, drawing clowns on stick figures is obscene, but having clowns on marble statues is just correct.
