Well in America the 4th of July is the day we celebrate our independence with fireworks and parties. I don't think many of you guys are from the US, so I figure we can has various independence day discussion here? What do you guys do for the holiday? |

AFAIK, the US is the only place that even celebrates it, it being their victory and so on. So, there's no holiday for anyone else, and no other country has an Independence Day holiday. |

The 17th of may norway got it's own laws independant of sweden thank you very much. Every country has one and the celebrated day is usually the most recent occation related to revolution or major change of rules. |

Actually, Cinco De Mayo is not, contrary to popular American belief, "Mexican Independence Day". Cinco De Mayo celebrates the date of the First Battle of the Puebla in the Mexican war for independence, but is not the date of any significant longterm strategic ...anything, happening. And they only remember the first battle of the puebla because in the second, they lost terrifically. Now then, any further questions? |

I think that the common folk here in Finland doesn't celebrate the Independence Day. At least, my family doesn't. |

Went to grandmas for lunch, bought fireworks, laughed at how terrible the parade was in heavy rain, watched public fireworks show, went home, irresponsibly used fireworks. Good times. |
