Hello dear Data Realms fan forums inhabitants.
This topic is (As some would guess) about me!
I was lurking these forums for quite a bit and I finnaly decided to create an account of my own.
Cortex Command is a game which allowed me to spend some wonderful moments at computer. I first saw it on my cousins computer, I believe it was around...Build 18(?) and we played endlessly for many hours. My memory was not so good as I would hope it is and the moment I came home I totally forgot about it. Last week however, I noticed an article in local game magazine about Cortex Command. Rushing home, I turned on my computer and downloaded the wonderfull game. It brings back some good memories... ^^

Well, something about me I guess.
My name is Micheal Erlich, I am from Czech Republic. (A small country in central Europe.)
I am sixteen. I am experienced in using HTML and CSS and I have some basics of Java.
I have no hobbies, the only worth mentioning is playing CC
That's probably all that could interest you about me.
Now, few questions for starters.

In build 18 (I think it was 18, all I remember that it had no zombies, only a skeleton and no campaigns except the tutorial mission. Oh and Dummies didn't have weapons, nor did coalition. And Ronin didn't exist.)
was the game free or something? I do not remember any time limit and I don't think my cousin would pay anything, even such wonderful game.

Is custom content avaible for the unregistered version?

Yes I think we all have looked at a map in recent history. Your country is in no danger of disappearing, I assure you. I think your English skills need a little bit of work.

The game is not free, but you can play mods on an unregistered version.

And IIRC we don't have an Introduction's section because we don't want topics like this.

Anyways, I am aware of my english skills, no need to remind me of that. As for the existence of my country, many people I have met in the past didn't even know such thing did exist. Lack of introduction section could be explained like you did, nobody wants it, but then again it's your opinion. Maybe an opinion of other people as well. But I never seen a rule againts it, which means it's completely valid. As I recall this is an Off-topic section. So if I decided to talk about kittens, I doubt you could do anything about it.

It would still be a pretty bad idea -z

If you have a credit card, it's very easy to buy the game. I bought it in 5 minutes.
If you don't have a credit card, it's easy again: save 25$ give it to mom, dad, bro, or sister with credit card and can buy stuff on the net. they get you the password=> you play endlessly and don't bother them forever again

Hey Darthie. My bro's boss is from Czech, so I guess I have some very loose connections there. So hiya!

We've had some other people from the Czech Republic, and their English wasn't so great. So, in my book, you're very fluent.


Here at Datarealms Fan Forums we have many, well, not so many, users. Some are punks, but a vast majority are a little happy-go-lucky.
That's the general crowd you gather from a game community, you know?

Just make sure not to break any taboos and you'll be fine.
(Disclaimers: you can't avoid breaking taboos, as there are many and they are not written down anywhere for you to avoid.)

So, inevitably you'll break some mysterious rule, such as making an introduction thread, and those punks I mentioned earlier will come out of hiding and start harassing you. Don't worry, it goes away after not too long.

And, Darthie, the only thing that the Demo does is limit your play time to six minutes. So all mods are perfectly compatible.

Download a mod from a thread in this forum.
Put it in your Cortex Command folder. It should be in there with "CortexCommand.exe"
Extract it!
Play!

Thank you all for your responces. I was afraid I would get endlessly flamed, which luckily didn't happen.
I have a credit card of my own, but it's blocked because of some odd reason I didn't understand. It'll surely take some time to fix the problem, but I'm sure I will invest the money into this.
Also, I looked through some modifications and it didn't seem too complex. I cannot say I would be able to produce such great mods as some of the folks here, but I could do some minor ones with a little bit of studying.

P.S. Mister mod with greeny text, I think I might give it a try someday, could be fun ^^.

So, welcome. Modding is pretty easy, experimentation an patience will get you far. The main post in this topic has a ton of useful links to other topics that are full of modding info.
