So, my Dad got a either Spanish or German 7x57mm Mauser rifle and after a day of playing and cleaning it I noticed strange symbols on the lever and just outside the chamber.

I attached a drawing of the two sets of symbols. The four are the ones just outside the chamber.

The markings are there to show that it's an 1895 7mm Mauser rifle.

So all those mean that? Whats the meaning of each symbol . Sorry, me and my dad are just really curious.

How on earth whould you pronounce a Pentagon with a little cross on top? It whould probebly come out something like Cthulhu or something like that.

The only thing I can get from them is that it's a 7mm Model 1893 Spanish Mauser. It's entirely possible it was used by Spanish forces in the Spanish-American War.

The symbols won't tell you much apart from where the gun was made and what country used it. The 1316 on it is simply a serial number.
