Re: Video encoder
Windows movie maker will encode videos, assuming you mean take a raw output file and turn it into something compressed and playable. Sure you don't mean transcoder, which is one file format to another, as in you have an avi file and need a wmv file or something?

Re: Video encoder
In fact it is for streaming videos so windows movie maker won't be the good one.

Re: Video encoder
Okay, explain to me what you're trying to do, because it has become obvious that you don't know how to explain what you need.

Re: Video encoder
He means what is the best video encoder for the fastest and most optimised live streaming.
Ffdshow? Would that be good for that? The speed of the footage is what's mainly required, rather than the quality. So that live is actually live.

Re: Video encoder
If I am correct, ffdshow is for encoding video into other formats, but isn't exactly the thing for live streaming.

Re: Video encoder
http://www.ustream.tv/higher-quality this may help, it shows how to set up flash media encoder (which I'm guessing is what daman was suggesting) for streaming (at least for ustream.tv) and has a download, it also has another encoder but you have to be a member to do so, you appear to be able to also change the framerate if you use ustream.tv with a max of 23fps(which is about the normal fps used by many animators, and most games I've seen streamed had good framerate so I guess it's good).

FME yeah robolee that is it you really don't need a guide though it's typical encoder settings and really it's best to find what works best with your upload rate

Re: Video encoder
Flash live media encoder can only broadcast video from webcam, it can't send live feed of what's on the desktop; which is what Neroe is asking for. VHscrCap, which records desktop activity, is compatible with adobe Flash live media encoder, but fror some reason livestream doesn't pick up its live feed.

Re: Video encoder
manycam seems to work great and I didn't need to fiddle with any encoders, also this http://www.ustream.tv/producer seems to be good and includes its own screencast tool, though I think manycam was over-riding it and now ustreams service is unavaliable, but it seems to be high quality.edit: scratch that, the included screencast tool is ♥♥♥♥, the frequency of updates is very low and there are graphical problems, and the producer tool is way over the top if all you want is a single video stream.

Re: Video encoder
have you ever thought that maybe he's talked to neroe? for all we know though he might not have but he seems to have a very good understanding of what he wants. I'm quite interested in streaming something myself (well actually I don't really feel like streaming anything at the moment but I'd like to get it set up so that it's easy for me to do so in the future), and so far the best thing I've used to stream in terms of fps and playback delay is surprisingly tinychat, but the quality isn't so good edit: @Enforcer what do yo mean it doesn't pick up it's feeds? http://www.cubeupload.com/files/7b4800a.png works for me

Re: Video encoder
Robolee, I mean, Adobe FMLE picks up the footage, but the place i'm broadcasting it to doesn't receive the feed for some reason. I'll check out what you posted in that link. Ohh, excellent. It picks it up now, it just needed a reset. It's 'slightly' better, but there is still a significant delay unless i haven't yet optimised it properly for this. There are some features in the VHScrCap settings, but I don't know what would make it faster for live feed. When I record the live feed using VHScrCap in Procaster, the viewing region borders flicker rapidly, what would that mean? It's filming twice? Ophanim wrote: Nobody knows what he's asking for you mongoloid. We were talking about video encoders in my multiplayer room, and he came here to to ask incase somebody happened to know the best, most optimised, fastest video encoder for streaming live from the desktop.
