So, my Windows 7 crashed into a reboot loop while playing Borderlands with my brother. We got it fixed, changed the cable of the S-ATA drive, but it helped for half a day. I was playing Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer. The server was changing map when suddenly, Windows 7 crashed into a reboot loop. We tried with another graphics card, no luck. Memory check, passed. Bought a new S-ATA drive with 1 TB of size. Didn't even get through the installation process of Windows 7. Tried installing Windows Vista, didn't work. Anybody knows something that might help? Specs: OS: Windows 7 Ultimate Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 4770 (or 4470, can't remember) Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 RAM: 4GB DDR3 Hard Drive: 1TB S-ATA + 200 GB S-ATA

I love how you immediately pounce to blaming weasel like a kindergartener. Somethings wrong? Weasel did it. As for the problem, run the auto fix thing, it actually can be useful and will probably find whats wrong unless whatever is wrong prevents you from running it.

Uh seeing as only admins can remove sub forums, and WJ and TLB are rarely on, I'm pretty sure it was Weasel. So, if we come to a logical conclusion, if we ask Weasel he can tell us why he did it - which has already been explained: He wants to have less clutter on the forums and said something about computer help being dusty and unused. Forgive me if any of this isn't right, but I'm pretty sure that's the thick and the thin of it.

Can't be the motherboard. If there was a fault there, it would probably fail to POST. It has to be a software glitch. I guess something (potentially the mobo) could be sending an ACPI reboot. Would suggest what I suggested in the other back-up thread: Recover your data if possible, and reinstall Windows 7 fresh. If the problem persists, its likely a hardware malfunction.

If the problem persists, its likely a hardware malfunction. Did you even read the first post? I did try installing Windows 7 and Vista first on a 200GB hard drive, the on a 1 TB hard drive. Both S-ATA. EDIT: And yes, i tried the Windows 7 autofix thing. No luck, not at all. Also, i rarely have the time to run the autofix before it reboots again.

Probably a crappy pirated version you have there, unless you actually bought it. I honestly have no idea what can cause such issues, but honestly, this isn't the place to ask. Ask at MS' support forums or something.

If the problem persists, its likely a hardware malfunction. You've obviously never had a broken motherboard. Motherboards can be ♥♥♥♥ in any number of ways, and will make your computer do weird ♥♥♥♥. That being said, I am not saying that it is his motherboard that is broken. It might be, but who knows.

You ought to do some other basic diagnostics before you go out and buy a new motherboard. You would not be wise to take the counsel of this forum to heart without outside verification. Although if you go out and buy a new mobo just because tucker!!! tells you do, maybe you deserve to get felted. How about you give me more info on how you the installation process failed? WinV/7 are notorious (at least in my reading and experience) for having half-assed support for SATA!!!! master drives. So anyway, before you go out and buy new hardware, look at the software angle and tell us what went wrong when you installed W7. There are tons of other things that could cause that problem: + Bad installation media + Lack of legacy SATA!!! drivers + Damaged optical drive (if you are using optical media) If you are too lazy, at least try to install a different operating system on the fresh drive. If that installation process works without fail, you know its the media. If it doesn't, it might not necessarily be your motherboard yet. Learn to troubleshoot!!!
