Story of Stuff
I was forced to watch this 20-minute video of basically how capitalism, advertisement, and consumption is evil. I was so pissed off at the end, that I decided I was gonna try to come up with a counter or something. I have a couple of ideas, but I figured it would be best if I came to a place where experts reside. Will you help? http://storyofstuff.com

Re: Story of Stuff
I dunno, Duh, it seems there are quite a few people here who know what they're talking about. If I can't get anything out of anyone here, then maybe I will.

Re: Story of Stuff
Actually lots of people here know what they're talking about. Though it's generally a select few, the rest exactly fitting the description of know nothing of the subject they speak of. Me, for one.

Here's a compromise between ♥♥♥♥ you find on reddit and actually reading a book.

There was maybe one person there who had a clue, but it had nothing to do with this. Besides, I was banned from that site like a year ago for verbal assault on the admin.

Re: Story of Stuff
This is one of those films that I sat through half of it with a "this is kind of interesting" feeling, until I heard things that were blatantly and horrifically wrong. Said falsehoods just made me think "if this is completely wrong, what else in the video is?" and then turned it off.
In reference to the consume culture of america, she said that computers were "the same, and the only difference between new and old computers were one part. and you can't upgrade that part, because new parts don't fit old computers!"
I also remember something about how paper is a finite resource. No.

Taking Political Science 102 does not and will never mean that "you know what you're talking about".

Re: Story of Stuff
So, sin, does that mean the third month of the first year education in political science means that they'll understand?
And Prod, was it Wexor, of that Famas dude, or one those other chronic masterbaters.
Ophanim, you are so right, I doubt anyone can distinguish it from wrong or right. Cheesemonkey, it is, there is a limited amount of resources that can be allocated to make paper, it just happens that we are nearing the limit.
