Re: Real life gatling shotgun
ah, you're right. i only glanced at it really, i was more focused on the hicks thing. but on second look the gloss and edges give it away. still, would be nice to tote it about.

Erm, assuming that WERE real, why would anyone make something so useless?

Useless, it can shred the ♥♥♥♥ out of infantry, and possible render many forms of locomotions unusable, scare the ♥♥♥♥ out of people, and probably be a better AA/Projectile Interceptor device than some of the current methods ( normal gatling ) . Grif, Megan Fox is real, it's just her 'beauty' and 'talent' that aren't.

Yeah, too bad it'd be useless at more than 20 meters, meaning it could be taken out with a grenade, and no, no way in ♥♥♥♥ hell it would ever work as an AA/Anti-Projectile weapon, exactly because of its retardedly short range.

Meh, develop long range ammo. If we can launch a grenade >80meters with a shotgun, we should be able to launch fragments/flechette further.

Re: Real life gatling shotgun
It's not the distance they can reach that's called into question, it's the fact that every pellet/flechette/w/e is kind of undamaging by itself against body armor, and they spread out over distance.

Shotguns aren't as ineffective at range as video games tell you. But they're nowhere near effective at the range needed for anti-aircraft. Foa wrote: probably be a better AA/Projectile Interceptor device than some of the current methods ( normal gatling ) Ahahahahahahahahah... Anyway. GAU 8 Avenger. It's an anti-tank gatling gun. It fires 4 thousand rounds a minute. Each round is 17 cm long. So yeah, a gatling shotgun has no apparent advantage that I can see.

Aha, we have the technology to launch bullets with electric impulses, therefore we can ( and already have ) launch bullets faster than that puny gatling! But I do admit defeat on the shotgun gatling, oh and buckshots are less expensive than anti-tank grade ammunition.

Re: Real life gatling shotgun
GAU-8 is useless without the marvelous aircraft that holds it. Also, Foa, yes, electrical impulses *can* launch bullets faster, but it takes so long to reload those things that you're better off with the Gatling.

We can make portabls turrets that can hold GAU-8, and possibly arm a tank with, and only one of those things.

Re: Real life gatling shotgun
The GAU-8 was longer than a tank, last time I checked, and anyways, why do that? The Warthog is awesome-looking, can fly with half of its fuselage shredded and a single engine, is harder to hit, and offers better attack angles than a tank/turret.

Just make the damn thing magazine/chain fed! You are a genius. Nobody has thought of or attempted to make electrically fired weapons more efficient. Ever. [/Sarcasm]Metal Meltdown wrote: GAU-8 is useless without the marvelous aircraft that holds it. Oh, of course. Because gatling shotguns are used as man-portable weapons; definitely not for mounts or vehicles or anything. [/Sarcasm]Foa wrote: buckshots are less expensive than anti-tank grade ammunition. Not if you price by tank kills. I'm pretty sure it'd take a few more rounds of buckshot to destroy a tank than anti-tank rounds, especially from the air. And yes, the GAU-8 has smaller cousins that could possibly be tank/turret-mounted.
