Data is quite bad at handing down materials and info.
Doesn't communicate enough.

Okay. That answer is good enough.
Lock this topic, please.

Re: What happened to the Dev Log?
actually, weasel thinks a new build is coming in a matter of real weeks, resulting in a bit of a crunch time for data. plus he's super tired from TIGJam, so there was no mailbag -> no devlog updates.

Re: What happened to the Dev Log?
I like this topic! no locking.
I would be posting some more community stuff or random ramblings, but without *some* from-data content then it would end up getting pretty dry and boring very rapidly.
Data has a plan to give me a daily update on what he's done, and that will be easy to keep on track - however, I need to get "up to date" first, so he's trying to write me an epic-length email on all the changes he's done so-far. That's taking him longer than planned.
Then there's all the RL stuff going on with him (TIGJam, etc).

No. He is going to torture you, one day at a time. Will there be a devlog update today? Will there be new information on it? Will Data release b24...?

Re: What happened to the Dev Log?
Yeah, torture is much more fun! I want to have content every day, so seriously I will be stretching things out when I get them. Inevitably there will be a slow-news-day where I'll need a backlog to pull from. I also like to pre-write articles a day or two in advance - so I have a chance to sleep on it and get some perspective (and as a buffer for deadlines - if I want to go on vacation or get sick, it's now possible to take a day off without you guys missing a post). That said, I do have to get certain information out before other deadlines. As an easy example, giving you "daily dev" updates on B24 won't make much sense after B24 is launched. So, I guess you can take the "quantity of updates" increasing as a sign that something major or game-changing is happening soon.

Torture is cruel, though. And the longer you take to post it all the more info you'll want to post that'll pile up on you. And then when Data wants to release B24 you're a month behind on the news.

I was originally planning on doing 2 questions (with long answers) for each monday-mailbag. However, since I have around 120 questions on backup, I'm increasing it up to "as-many-as-data-can-handle-per-week" until we get the flow down again. The last one was 5 questions I think.. Next one, probably ten.

Just make ♥♥♥♥ up. Go in paint and draw fake concept art. Anything to hold us over until B 24, when it won't matter when we're let down that all your posts were a lie because we'll be so excited.
Repeat.

Re: What happened to the Dev Log?
Making crap up is dumb, but it would be great if every few days when you've got nothing good, to just throw together some post. It can be a repost of something neat on the forums, a scrap of concept art, starting a discussion over an aspect of development without necessarily giving any new information, whatever. Even if it doesn't get spammed with 'OMG YESS' comments, it's better than nothing.
An absolute consistency, like "always a post on mondays, (generally the mailbag)" would constantly give us something to look forward to. If you've really got enough content to have good daily updates, by all means, go for it. But if you could keep it at least weekly even when there's nothing to say, and every other day when info reserves are high, that would be plenty in my opinion.
...Did a post deleting feature just get added?

I think that until b24 comes out Weasel will have plenty to submit for us as soon as he gets in touch with Data. [mock srs]When you do get in touch with him Weasel, tell him to stop enjoying life so much, he is our development slave, not some indie developer that can do as he pleases [/mock srs]
