I'm not too much of an expert with colors or making them match nicely. This is why I am asking you, datarealms, to make the forum syntax highlighter use acceptable colors. At this link is a long example of the syntax highlighter actually put to use, and shows a wide range of colors assigned to specific function and variable groups. I would like you guys, the community, to post suggestions on what should be what color. http://www.daman.ilovetheinternet.org/f ... t=1&p=1#p1 |

The dark yellow stuff should be a nice bright lime green. The darker blue is a bit tricky to see on the lighter grey stripes, and needs tweaking. Similarly the dark red/burgundy colour is difficult to make out on the dark stripes, and also needs tweaking. |

All comments should be green, agree with TD. Switch the function color with Vector color and then make vector a brightish yellow color. Actually nevermind the hideous paint cyan color works well for function, if, then else etc. Also lightening up the darker BG color works wonders. I used 36,36,36 in paint. Also I'd suggest using italics and other effects more often than just comments; strings inside quotes should also be italicized, and some way to differentiate the two red colors more strongly would be better. I made some changes, but I'm not really digging the bright blue and yellow. Anything else you can think of? (or, if other people say they like that, I'd be glad to change it to that i guess) |

I like the bright yellow, but that hideous cyan needs to be different. Maybe a purple, or a nice lilac? Perhaps mauve? |

Just a less hideous blue would work. |

Somewhat different, tried to depress hyper saturation on colors and differentiate more between the two reds. |

the dark blue, although cool, draws attention away from the functions rather than to them. |

I like Notepad++'s defaults: Comments: 0,128,0 String: 188,255,121 Number: 255,202,149 Operator: 255,130,130 (i.e. + - = # {}) Instructions: 130,192,255 (i.e. for if end then) Lua Functions: 0,255,255 (i.e. require dofile) Lua Libraries: 128,128,128 (ie. math.* os.* table.*) I would suggest not using bold, and italics for comments maybe. The background is good, but could always be darker, and less of a contrast between alternating colors. Preview: |

I can hardly SEE the blue writing, as partial colorblindness makes it really blurry. Someone else mentioned that it's hard to read to begin with. |
