About a year ago, or maybe a little more, James helped me set up a dualboot of Vista and Ubuntu on my system. Now, this was all hunky-dorie, up until tonight.

I was going to install Windows 7 over my partition that used to have Ubuntu. I formatted the partition, and all was well. I burnt my Windows 7 disc, and then put it in. Restarted my computer, go to install Windows 7, and apparently the burning had a problem. So I took the CD out, go to boot my computer like normal, aaaand the systemthing that lets me dualboot, GRUB, or whatever it's called, (not exactly an expert on that) won't let me get past that part of startup because I formatted Ubuntu off my system.

I tried to use system restore, but my computer doesn't pick up when I spam the F11 key on startup.

What can I do to save my computer?

Reinstall Ubuntu onto that partition. You're an idiot, just FYI.

Okay so uhh. Let's just say I don't have the Ubuntu disc anymore.

If you have an Ubuntu disc, that is.

As long as nothing important is on the ubuntu partition, your windows install is perfectly normal. Just reinstall ubuntu to it's partition and it'll see the windows install.

Yeah I know my Windows install is fine. I'm going to reinstall Ubuntu, I was just wondering if I could get ♥♥♥♥ off my HDD without doing any of this, because in the end I was going to format it anyway.

I know I'm doubleposting but this is a big update, I think:

I downloaded Ubuntu 7.04, but all I have are DVDs, and it will only burn to a CD.

DVD-RW's are your friend.

Use Imgburn.

I just said I tried to use a DVD and it wouldn't work.

Also I tried imgburn and PowerISO, both said "no media device etc etc in CD/DVD drive" because for some reason this Ubuntu won't install to a DVD.
