Post Attention those who have lots of music!
I'm looking for a dark-themed song for an animation project. Dark as in, death, destruction, pain, ect. Something that builds up as it progresses.

What I'm not looking for is songs made by Clint Mansell, though his songs are made of epic and win, they are just way too overused.

If you have a song that you think fits the criteria, please post the title and author.

Thanks in advance.

Amon Tobin - El Wraith - Techno/ambient Kinda dark tones
Behemoth - Anything - Black Death Metal, it fills any spot
Dan Swano - Sun of the Night - Its dark brutal vocals with some odd tech sounding guitar.
Daylight Dies - Cathedral - A little slower but heavy with some growling vocals.
Deicide - Anything - Glen Benton has an upsidedown cross burn into his forehead. Need I say mre?
Demoniac - Night Demons - This is if Dragonforce was a deathmetal band... actually this was when dragonforce was a deathmetal band
Emperor - In longing Spirit - Slow buildup of orchestral sounds into Emperor. Yeah.

If non of this works be more specific in genera of music.

oh.
Saturnus - Christ Goodbye

To be a bit more specific on the genre, I want a kind of orchestral piece, because my project is set during the Black Plague.

Try some symphonic metal or stuff like cello metal. Sorry for the vague suggestion, but I haven't listened to any specific artists in a while.

Saturnus would work.
Daylight dies might work
Emperor too
Epic Viking Folk metal -
Equilibrium
Hellveto

Among tobin might be too technical but might work.

SYMPHONY X, seriously symphony X

I really don't want any guitar, metal, or any type of modern mixed in with it, I know I'm being picky, but I need to find the right song for it.

How about the 28 Days Later theme song? It gets pretty intense towards the end.

Dauss suggested this in IRC:

Not everything by GY!BE is a good choice, but I think this is one of their darker songs. (I only listened to a little bit) Plus essentially all of their songs have the whole buildup thing.

Eugh.

ITT: Bad taste in music.

Anyway, would be nice if OP told us what this was for so that we can use our better judgment as to what music would be appropriate. It would be easier than just rattling off random nu-metal bands no one likes.

No modern stuff? Hmm, anything with an organ is probably pretty dark-sounding. Kamelot is progressive rock, but it has that sound you should be looking for.
